Chapter One

Indigo saw Sapphire just sitting there. Indigo's favorite thing to do when there was nothing else to do was play pranks on Sapphire.
She looked around, and saw a leaf full of water, just waiting to be dumped on someone's head. She picked it up and flew quietly over to where
Sapphire was standing. Just as Sapphire was about to turn around, She felt something icy cold run down her back. Sapphire spun around and
saw Indigo flying away as fast as she could. Sapphire lifted up and began to fly after her. They flew about the area for about twenty minutes
untill Sapphire finally caught up with Indigo. They dragged eachother to the ground and just lay there breathing hard for a moment, untill
Sapphire spoke up. "That's not fair Indigo."
"What's not fair?" Indigo panted.
Sapphire replied " Your a flower fairy, and I'm a water fairy, so you can naturally fly faster than I can!"
"Well, If you would do more flying than swimming, maybe you would be faster than me!"
Sapphire started to reply, but then they both saw a big ball of bright light, and the fairy queen, Elissa appeared. Sapphire and Indigo stood
up and bowed slightly, but they could not say anything. After all, it's not every day that you get a visit from the fairy queen!
Then, Elissa said "Sapphire, Indigo," and she looked at them. They returned her look with a steady gaze, then she said "I have a mission
for you two." Sapphire and Indigo looked back at her with a more exited look in their eyes. "Yes?" Sapphire said.
"I need your full attention, and I also need to know if you two are ready for this."
"Yes ma'am, we are!"
"OK, Indigo, Sapphire, I need you two, to go to the human realm." Sapphire and Indigo looked at eachother in wonder. Why would the queen
want THEM of all fairies to go to the human realm? Indigo decided to ask. "Your Majesty,"
"Yes Indigo?"
"Um,.." Indigo began to stutter "Uh, Why would you want US to go to the human realm?"
"Well, there's a family that needs to be protected. The Martin family. The youngest Martin, Margaret, is the only one who believes in fairies.
You need to mostly protect her. Her room lookes like a mushroom ring. I need you to protect the family. There is a war on. Are you two
ready for this?" Sapphire and Indigo nodded their heads.
"Good, you can meet me here first thing tommorrow morning."

The next morning, Sapphire felt a tug on the shoulder. She shoo'd the hand away and started to go back to sleep. She felt a bop on the
head with a bucket, and she instantly sat up and slapped the blury fugure standing in front of her. Then she heard
"Ouch! Sapphire!" It was Indigo's voice. Sapphire shook her head to clear it and saw the still slightly blury figure of the slim Flower Fairy
standing on front of her, rubbing her cheek. Indigo continued "Get up sleepyhead, we gotta go meet Elissa by the stream today." Sapphire stood up
a little wobbly still. She grabbed one of her wings and straightened out the kinks, as she did to the other. She lifted slightly off the ground and
Indigo followed. They went over to the stream that they had played by the morning before, and saw Queen Elissa sitting there on Sapphire's
favorite bench, holding two strange-looking dresses. They looked at her, wondering what in the realm those were, and then Sapphire said
"Pardon my rudeness, but, where in the WORLD did THOSE come from?" Sapphire didn't like them that much, and they looked
uncomfortable and hot, and Indigo and Sapphire both pulled at the necks of their dresses at the thought. Elissa looked at them, and then she
handed them the dresses and said
"You two are going to have to wear these." The two girls looked nervously at eachother. Sapphire looked back at Elissa.
"We, are going to have to wear these---Dresses?" Sapphire swallowed hard. They looked terribly uncomfortable. Elissa
nodded.
"Go put them on, then I'll tuck in your wings." Sapphire and Indigo obeyed Elissa's orders, and came back wearing the dresses.
Elissa grabbed Sapphire and Shoved her wings onto the dress. Sapphire winced in pain. Elissa grabbed the strings on the back
of the dress, put her foot on Sapphire's back, and tugged with all her strength. Sapphire's face nearly turned red, and she looked painfully
at Indigo.
"Apparently Women in the human realm can't breath properly." Sapphire blurted. Elissa looked at Indigo, and Indigo put a sour
expression on. Elissa did the same to Indigo, and Indigo said
"Ok, ok, that's it! I quit! I'm hot, my wings hurt, It's itchy, and I am not gonna wear this dress for another second! I don't even care at
this point if my wings do get ripped off!" Elissa looked at her, threataningly, and then she said
"You are going to wear that dress and go to the human realm wheather you like it or not!" Indigo folded her arms and turned away from
the queen very rudely. Elissa looked patheticallly at Indigo. She was not in the mood to put up with this kind of attitude. Indigo rolled her eyes and
walked over to Sapphire. The queen shot them one last look, and then they felt themselves grow. They looked around, and they saw that they were
taller than the flowers. Indigo didn't want to step on any flowers. She grabbed onto a pine branch and swung herself over to a dirt path where
there were no flowers. Sapphire followed, not wanting Indigo to feel bad. Indigo heard a strange sound, sortof like a unicorn, only deeper.
She looked down the road and screamed when she saw what looked like a unicorn with no horn. She jumped into Sapphire's arms.
Sapphire dropped Indigo in a harsh manner, and said
"It's not a unicorn with a missing horn dummy, it's a horse, I've read about them. They have no horns, and they carry people on
their backs." Sapphire looked at Indigo.
Indigo got up and dusted herself off and smiled.
"I knew that, it's just, I was startled." Sapphire nodded suspiciously. She waved the horse and rider down. They stopped, and looked
at Sapphire and Indigo. He started to talk.
"Hello, how you two fine young ladys today?" It was Sapphire who replied, because Indigo was still freaked out from seeing a "Unicorn
with a missing horn". Sapphire said
"We are fine, thanks for asking, how are you?"
"Very busy" the man replied. He was wearing a bright red coat with golden bottons down the front, and one gold plate on each of his
shoulders. To Sapphire, this soldier was drop-dead gorgeous. He had the silkiest-looking brown hair under his back helmet, and the most
wonderfull smile. This got Sapphire speechless. Since Sapphire was tounge-tied, Indigo decided to talk.
Indigo smiled politely and said
"We are doing fine my good man, would you be so kind as to tell us what year it is here?" The man looked strangly and Indigo,
and replied:
"Are you women daft? It's 1776! Are you two women Patriots or Loyalists?" Idigo looked at the man.
"You tell us first." She smiled sweetly at him. He replied
"I, am a proud loyalist." He raised his sword, as if in triumph. Sapphire couldn't hold back a little giggle.
"Well, we are Loyalists too!" Sapphire said. "We are, journalists! Yes, we are journalists. Can you point us in the direction of the Martin home?" Sapphire questioned. The soldier replied
"Oh, that patriot family? Oh, crazy people! Well anyway, they are due north." He pointed them north, and they thanked him. They headed off in search of the martin family.

When they got there, Indigo knocked on the door three times. They heard a man's voice say
"Just one moment." Footsteps, then, the door opened slightly. When the man saw it was just two young ladys, he opened the door all the way. He extended his hand, and said
"Hello ladies. I am Daniel Martin. You startled me, we weren't expecting company, won't you come in?" Indigo and Sapphire stepped into the humble little cabin.
"Alisson, we have company!" He said. Mr. Martin pointed at a couch.
"Please, won't you sit down?" Indigo and Sapphire did as Told. Alisson came into the room, and welcomed the fairies.
"Hello! How are you two today?" She asked. She seemed very friendly.
"Fine, thank you." Sapphire said. Mr. Martin was the next to speak.
"Ladies, this is my wife, Alisson." Indigo and Sapphire smiled, and nodded kindly at the woman.
"We are journalists." Sapphire said. "We have come here to write about the war." Mr. Martin's expression went from happy to see the two, to worried. Indigo spoke fast.
"We are patriots, do not worry." Sapphire gave Indigo a strange look. She knew that the young fairy had no idea what she meant. Mr. Martin relaxed a little.
"If you don't mind me asking," He began, "What are your names?" Sapphire and Indigo gave eachother worried looks. They hadn't been planning on that. Sapphire spoke first.
"I am Emily,... Haven. My name is Emily Haven, and this is-" Indigo interrupted
"Hannah Moore. I, am Hannah Moore. It's nice to meet you!" Sapphire stuck out her hand to Alisson, knowing what she was doing. Alisson shook it.
"Would either of you like something to drink, some, lemonaid, some, water, anything like that?" Alisson look expectantly at the fairies. Neither one of them knew what lemonaid was, nor what it tasted like. Sapphire said
"We would like a little lemonaid please." She said, reassuring Indigo that she knew what she was doing. Mrs. Marting nodded, then walked into the kitchen. Just then, a young handsome man walked into the room. He looked at them, and then up at Daniel, and said
"Father, you didn't tell me we were going to have company!" He said, with a kind bit of humor in his voice. Mr. Martin Smiled. He said
"Joseph, This is Emily Haven," He said, pausing to put his hand in Sapphire's direction. She waved a bit, then Daniel turned to Indigo and said
"And this is Hannah Moore." He said, looking at the beautiful Indigo. Indigo simply smiled. Sapphire guessed that it was Indigo's turn to be dazzled by a young man. Sapphire Smiled.
"We are journalists, we have come to write about families in the war." Sapphire lied. She didn't really feel right about lying to them, but she didn't have much of a choice. She noted once she said that, that she had no notebooks. Joseph looked at her, then seemed to voice her thoughts. He said
"If you are journalists, then where are your notebooks?" He asked, with that same glint of humor in his eye.
"They got stolen." Indigo shot back, apparently out of her daze.

Indigo thought that the journalist Idea was a stupid one, but it was too late now.
