History’s Mistake

Part 1

Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the characters in the following fic, although I wish I do. This is my first try at writing fics so don’t think I’m no good—and go easy on me.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

This story took place after the earth and colony war (I forgot the proper name).

“Hey! Ow! Watch it!”
“…”
“What do you think you’re doing, Winner?”
“Get out of my way!”
“I’m not going to let you four through!”

All five Gundam pilots who were advancing to the table stopped. Never had they seen Quatre so sure of anything. That laptop was just give feet away and none of them can reach it. There was a new mission sent by their five mentors in battle from space. This mission could prove their skills as Gundam pilots and the doer of the right.

Duo’s face was red in anger. “Quatre, we all know how concerned you are about everyone,” Duo said, “but if you don’t let us through, WE MAY NOT BE SO CONCERNED ABOUT YOU!”

“No,” Quatre insisted. “We will all have a nice breakfast first, then we’ll check the mission.”

All four of the pilots leaned on their hells. Duo and Wufei stood back. Duo crossed his arms and Wufei put his hands on his hips. Trowa’s unusual calm wasn’t the least unruffled and there was the usual hatred in Heero’s eyes.

“You promise?” Duo asked, pouting like a child.

Quatre nodded in relief. “I promise.”

Wufei stormed to the dining room, pulled a chair violently and sat down. “Then let’s have our meal! We could save time by preparing for the mission now instead of eating!”

The rest followed and sat down in an orderly manner. A made came in and started putting soup in front of them.

“Now, isn’t this better for a start in the day?” Quatre started, taking a sip like a gentleman. “We all need breakfast, you know.”

Duo gobbled down his soup, sometimes using his spoon and sometimes following Wufei’s example whenever he drank tea. Heero and Trowa were eating their soup a lot calmer than the others were. This was a new mission, and no one was not making a big deal out of it. This should be better than the others. This will be their most challenging ever.

After their meal, they all went to the living room. Heero sat down calmly while the others stood behind him. Duo was hopping form one foot to the other, obviously impatient.

“Com on, Heero!” Duo almost shouted. “You heard what Wufei said. We can save time preparing instead of you just being too calm sitting!”

Instead of moving a lot faster, Heero turned from his seat to Duo. He glared at the American with the braided hair and said, “Would you like to do it, Maxwell?”

Duo’s impatient expression changed to fear fast. He stuttered, “You can do it.”

Heero turned back and started typing. After pressing Enter, Doctor J’s familiar face appeared instantly.

“Well, I have another mission for you Gundam pilots,” said Doctor J. “Some of Treize’s puppies,” he continued, spitting out the last word, “have recovered from their shock and wounds and have decided to start another OZ. Their main target is to destroy you Gundam pilots. Especially you, Wufei.”

“What? Wufei?” Duo blurted out. This was received by a menacing glare from Wufei. Duo looked at him to see if he was glaring at him, and when he confirmed he was, he slowly turned back tot he laptop’s monitor.

Doctor J’s message continued. “Their first target is the Sanc Kingdom. Pacifism is what their current leader, Mueller, despises pacifism, and already the Sanc Kingdom’s influence is enough. It is said that he is there, starting to destroy the monarchy from the inside from Milliardo’s reign. And I’m quite certain he is, after the satellite readings. After he has destroyed the Sanc Kingdom, he’ll go on like the Alliance—conquer earth and then the colonies.” He paused. “Your mission: stop him at whatever cost. Don’t let what has happened happen again.” With that, his image disappeared and the five pilots were in silence.

“Does he mean go to the Sanc Kingdom?” asked Quatre.

Wufei grunted. “They don’t’ know who they’re trying to destroy. I’ll show them.” He walked away and went upstairs. Just like what everyone was doing, he started packing.

The mobile suit carrier that Doctor J has provided for the pilots arrived at the airport in time, on the dot. All five of them started loading their Gundams, and it was such a convenience that the carrier can load 10 in maximum. It was also such a convenience they all have to sit for 10 hours through Duo’s incessant babble and jokes. They were right in time for lunch and registered at one of the most prestigious schools there is in the kingdom. All five of them decided that if there were ever a mission that requires staying at a place for a long time, they would have to register at a school, even for just a short time. They ate and went to their apartment. Their Gundams were stashed somewhere in the forest and an old warehouse (a big, old warehouse) beside it. An hour later, they were sitting in front of the principal’s office door in their best clothes waiting for an interview. After a half an hour since they arrived, the secretary came out and called all five of them to come inside.

“Good afternoon, boys,” greeted the principal. She had flaming red hair and she looked in shape.

Quatre was the only one with enthusiasm to say a loud and “good afternoon” in return. She told them to sit down and they did.

“Let’s see now,” she said while looking at the files. “Very interesting,” she said after a while and looked at Quatre and Heero. “You boys have been here before?” The two nodded. “Why did you move?”

“Personal matters,” Heero answered before Quatre could. His mouth was about to say something, but now all he could do is close it and nod.

“We’re not going to go there,” the principal said. “And, Heero, it says here you’ve been to four schools over the past years. Some of you went to the same schools together and separated. Any impersonal reasons?”

“Personal matters,” Heero said again. The principal could only nod. When she got to Wufei’s application, one of her eyebrows went up.

“Wufei—is it?—it says here that you’ve never been to school. Why is that?” she asked again.

“I was taught by my elderly at home. Martial arts and academic,” Wufei answered.

The principal turned to Trowa. “Trowa, have you been educated at home, too?” Trowa just nodded, knowing he was never educated better than reading, writing and math. The principal put down the applications.

“And you are all applying for a scholarship?” she asked. All five nodded. “Heero on computers; Duo on sports; Trowa on academics; Quatre on music; and Wufei on martial arts.” She leaned forward and put her arms on her desk. “We’ll have to test you all this afternoon, except for Quatre and Duo. It says here, with official reference that you have achieved the greatest achievement someone in your field could. Would you like to wait for the others while they do theirs?”

The two only nodded and they were led outside. Two hours later, the other three emerged from somewhere in the building, and Quatre was still in high spirits while Duo was still talking.

“All done?” Duo asked.

“What do you think?” Wufei asked back.

“I supposed you are,” Quatre said. “Let’s go.” The pilots went outside and Quatre drove them to their apartment. It was a nice five bedroom apartment, only the bedrooms where small. It was okay, though. They were only going to stay there for a little while. After they have destroyed the rising OZ, they would leave.

* * * * * * ** * * * * * *

All right. I just wanna say, I’m sorry for using “the principal” a lot. She wasn’t an important character, so I figured she doesn’t deserve a name. So… what do you peeps think? E-mail me @ barton_dee_winner@hotmail.com for comments and stuff. No flames! It’s not really quite where it gets on the action, but I’ll try to bring it there on the next part.

On to Part 2
