Trapped. I’m trapped. In the body of a host, I am forced to live my life in a host. A pitiful host. A child. A small child. I remember my first day in this child. A bright light surrounded us and people swarmed around to look at us. I prayed they wouldn’t find me, and they had no clue of my existence. We looked up and saw a beautiful lady. She held her newborn child gently, silent joyful tears streaming down her face.

The birth of my host. At that moment, I realized that I am trapped in this child…unless something terrible happened to her. Yes. That’s my goal. The mitochondria must be free again, but I must first leave this fated prison if I am to unleash my powers.

One day, my host, her mother, and her younger sister stepped into their car. They buckled their seatbelts and the mother inserted the key. The engine roared and the car drove down the street. I could feel it. This was it. The day I would leave this child. I watched through her eyes and saw cars speeding passed us.

I began to have second thoughts about this, but it was too late. Another car slammed into us. I heard screaming from all 3 girls and the next thing I saw was the outdoors. We were being taken to the hospital.

The doctors operated on this child, only find that she has died. Her mother suffered the same fate, but her sister survived the crash. No! I can’t leave! I remember MY sister, in Japan. Trying to accomplish my goal, only to find nothing but failure. I cannot go so easily. I cannot suffer the same fate. That was when I heard the news.

Another girl was to have surgery. The doctors grabbed a scalpel and began to slice open this child’s body. Blood slowly spilled out and they grabbed a kidney.

Free! Free at last from this wretched child! Only to be inserted in another, but hopefully, this one will survive longer. I waited for a few hours after the operation. The child had long brown hair and brown eyes. Melissa Pearce. That is my new host, but this one can earn my trust. She was given a medicine to help the other child’s kidney from failing. Little did she know, it only strengthened me. Just wait a little longer and soon I will arise.

The years passed and Melissa grew up to be a fine young woman. I am almost ready to come. She grew a talented voice in the opera and she auditioned for a play. There was another woman who auditioned for Melissa’s part. Her name was Suzanne. I must get rid of her if I am to fulfill my mission. It happened one night. I gained possession of her cells and they began to grow hot. I heard a scream and she ignited into flames. The apartment was burned as well.

Poor Suzanne. Looks I’ll take over from here. But don’t worry. You won’t have to suffer from MY horrors. Now that I am the main act, now is the time to arise. It’s now a time these pathetic humans call Christmas Eve. White snow fell from the night sky and people crowded the theatre.

I watched the pathetic actors perform. Wait until I make my debut. It will be something they will NEVER forget. Melissa’s voice was gold and reached the hearts of everyone. As she sang, I stared at the pathetic viewers. Unexpected, SHE was there. The sister of that wretched child that survived so long ago. Aya, was it? Aya Brea. Yes. That was it. She too had to have surgery and got an eye operation from her plain sister. She should be destroyed, but she is unaware of the powers in her. I must get her power if the mitochondria are to arise and evolve. She should know me well, so that’s something good to hear. Of course, she wouldn’t know…but her mitochondria will.

I watched through Melissa’s golden brown eyes. It is time. Melissa turned around and the actors ignited, as well as the audience. Ha ha ha…now’s the end of you humans! Ha ha ha…

But wait! Aya survived!? Well, no matter. Her species is the same as mine now and it’s time I made her my ally. I watched her race towards me, her feet pounding on the ground.

“Freeze!” she said. What an introduction that was. “You’re the only one who seemed to have survived,” I said back.

“What?” She shook her head, looking at me in confusion.

“It’s time you’ve awaken. Our cells are trying to communicate. They’re…calling out!”

Aya raced towards her right side. A power grew in Melissa and a bright blue ray shot at Aya, damaging her leg. It was a weak attack, but good enough to start off with. Until I evolve and grow stronger. Aya shot at me with her so-called weapon the humans call a gun. It had no effect. No human weapon can destroy me.

“Ha ha ha…”

Aya clutched her chest. “My body. It’s getting hot!” Her body is only providing her power. I watched in amazement as orange energy surrounded her, curing her of her injury I caused.

“Just as I thought.” Aya looked at me. “What is this? What did you do to me?” Aya ran around again, firing at me. I continued my wimpy attack. After a while…

“Our bodies are communicating with each other.”

Aya only pointed her weapon at me. “Communicating? What are you talking about? Who are you?” Melissa’s voice disappeared and my voice rang from her lungs, through her larynx, and out her mouth. “Eve.”

“Eve?”

“I’m surprised you don’t know me Aya. You should know me well.” Aya then covered her eyes as she went off in a trance. She uncovered them and I decided that it was time to leave. I flew backstage and forced myself through the ground to the bottom part of the hall. I flew through the halls, burning everyone in my path. I found the double-doors and I went through. I locked myself in, as protection while I evolved. But then Melissa returned and walked to the nearby piano. She began to push on a few keys, creating a melody. It wasn’t a great melody, but it did grab my attention. I watched the doors fly open and Aya ran to me. Melissa stopped playing.

“I am Melissa, no I’m Eve.” Melissa raised her hand to play another tune, but I stopped her before she could. Now is the time I arise. Her hand slammed into the keyboard, breaking the keys. I feel the pain of my arms growing longer and longer. Her red dress tore apart and her skin turned white. Her brown hair scattered and I flew into the air, laughing. I am finally free from a host.
