Klaipeda, as the third largest city in Lithuania, is one of the largest ice-free fishing ports in the Baltic and an important center of Lithuanian culture.
It is situated on the Curonian Lagoon and special mention should be made of its maritime museum and aquarium. Palanga, a popular beach resort, is located 20 miles to the north.
