You stroll into a restaurant and a cloud of smoke blows in your face. Your lungs are clogged so you cough. This is one example of many restaurants in New Jersey. New Jersey should be tabacco free. If it is not, the environment will be very unhealthy, there will be a higher death rate, and people will get sick from second hand smoke.
If tabacco continues to be legal in New Jersey the environment will be very unhealthy. If more people start smoking there will be more smoke in our atmosphere, and it will be very unhealthy for us. More and more people will get sick because our environment is not safe for us to live in.
You see a man next to you smoking, and you dont care because you think as long as your not smoking its okay. Well if he is smoking its almost as if youre smoking too. Second hand smoke can cause you to get a sore throat, headaches, lung cancer, and may contribute to heart disease. It also can affect your eyes and nose. (www.epa.gov/ipq/ets/html)
Did you know that Michael S. Lauer conducted a study? He is a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He examined data from over 3,000 men and women in their mid 40s, in Bostons Framingham Offspring Study. Follow up testing was performed for eight consecutive years. Of smokers 25% of the men, and 32% women failed to achieve their target heart rates during the exercise stress test compared to 15% of non-smoking men and 18% non smoking women. If that many of smokers failed to achieve their target heart rate that has to tell you something. The death rate will go up because their heart is not functioning properly.
If this matter is not dealt with it will be fatal. More people will die from second hand smoke, the work place will be unhealthy, and the death rate will go up. To kill or not to kill, the future is in your hands.

What would you think if smoking were banned from the state of New Jersey? Would you be mad or would you think it was the right decision? I know from my point of view I think it would be better because it would lower the death rate, and help other states make the decision we made. There would be no second hand smoke and that would be good cause then the non- smokers would not have to worry about breathing in cigarette smoke. Why would you want New Jersey to be smoke free or not? You can quote me on this that I will never smoke a cigarette not only that I know it could also give me cancer, and it could also hurt others around me. The nicotine is a deadly drug that causes people to get addicted to smoking.
Not only is smoking bad for the person but, it is worse for the people around the smoker. The people around the smoker are breathing in second hand smoke and that has been found to be worse than actually smoking a cigarette. When I am around someone that smokes I have to leave the room because number one I hate the smell and I know if I sit there and breath in the cigarette smoke it is going to hurt me.
Cough, Cough, and Cough. That is the sound of someone that has been smoking for a while. Most smokers think its ok to smoke and that they wont get hooked but if you continue to smoke you will become addicted. In cigarettes there is a drug called Nicotine and that is what causes you to become chemically dependent. Nicotine is now considered one of the most deadly drugs because it causes variety of diseases that can cause death.

The Winners of The Smoking Essay's!!!
New Jersey is one of many states that is infected with the poisonous substance tobacco. People get hooked to this life-threatening drug every day. The people who are smoking aren't the only ones being effected; our air, animals, and environment are suffering too. We're not only damaging our present, but also the future.
When people decide to smoke, they are inevitably poisoning their bodies. They cross a line into a world were their life line connects to a single object, tobacco. Their entire life is controlled by nicotine. This addiction becomes so strong they literally rely on it for 'everything'. They use it to calm their nerves, help them through the day, and other things. They become hooked in a jungle of tobacco and poisons in which they can not escape without the will power to quit. They surrender this power to tobacco when they start.
Second hand smoking is something we can not control. It is not something we, the nonsmokers, have control of. When we are around those who smoke, we're smoking with them. The air around us becomes intoxicated with the deadly fumes. Our lungs are then stained with the tar from tobacco. This can not change because smokers make the choice for us. This is something that not even our famed politicians can change, unless they take that choice away.
Since so many people today are smoking, our air is becoming polluted even faster. Our trees and plants are being harmed by the disastrous drug. However, more importantly our future is being drastically effected. The plants breathe in the poisonous fumes and have to recycle them back into the air because they aren't 'programmed' to keep it inside of them. Then the humans who are naturally breathing in this air will be filling their lungs with smoke unintentionally. If this problem continues, our future will be in big trouble.

"Are you ok," John said as he helped his friend onto the couch. "You are really sick." "Maybe we should take you to the hospital." "Hello 911 I have a really sick friend, he passed out on the couch and I don't know what to do. I live at 199 Tree Street. Hurry please!" Do you want to be in a position like this one day? Well that's what could happen if you or a friend you know smokes tobacco. John's friend never made it to the hospital that day. He died on the couch before the ambulance got there. Smoking tobacco is a big problem in New Jersey. Many people die at an early age due to tobacco smoking. If people didnt smoke it would lower the cost of health care, and set good examples for teens.
Every day more and more teens are lighting up cigarettes. Some do it because they want to try it for the first time, and others are doing it because they think it makes them look cool, or because of peer pressure. Its become a big problem. What many dont realize is that when you smoke, your lungs get black and your teen get yellow. Well, thats not very attractive, now is it. Would you want to kiss some one with yellow teeth? I sure wouldnt. Some parents make the mistake of letting their teenager smoke a cigarette with them, that only endangers the life of their child. When you hand someone a cigarette your practically sending them to the hospital, and to an early grave.
When you go to a restaurant and people are smoking around you they arent only polluting their lungs, but their polluting your lungs too. Second hand smoking is actually worse than first hand smoking. People who dont smoke live a happy and healthy life. People who do smoke live their lives in a hospital bed. If you ask me, that hardly sounds like the perfect life.
Smoking is also addictive, once people start smoking cigarettes their body starts to crave that drug and eventually they cant put that cigarette down. Its kind of like playing a Nintendo game. When kids play a game that they really like eventually they start to crave that game. The more that they play it the more they get hooked, and eventually they cant put the controller down. Well, thats what happens with smoking. Eventually, people start to crave the cigarette.
I think that New Jersey should set good examples for teens by not smoking. Take it from a teen, teenagers are easily influenced, and when they see something that they think makes them look cool or will give them more popularity they try it. To me smoking is an early invitation to the grave. Thats why I think New Jersey should be tobacco free.

Life capacity: short. WHY? You need breath to survive and you need lungs to breathe, smoking blackens your lungs. Can you imagine gasping for air? Coughing all the time? If you cant then
..Dont smoke. Smoking is a bad habit and it causes high death rate and it makes the cost of health care higher. New Jersey should be tobacco free.
Its just like in the Pringles commercial, Once you start the fun dont stop, except with smoking its not fun. Its a bad habit. Nicotine is the last legal drug. It is very addictive. It makes you think that you need and want it. Once you start doing something you cant stop. Its just like biting your nails just looking at them makes you want to bite them because its a habit so once youve picked up a cigarette and then you see one you want to smoke it because its a habit. It makes your teeth turn yellow and makes you smell. If you like someone and they dont smoke it would be just like kissing an ashtray so you should stand clear of that big bad habit.
The first time you pick up a cigarette your lively and full of energy and best of all healthy and chances are 20-25 years later when you pick up a cigarette your lying on your death bed. Cigarettes kill slowly. In the beginning, you may think it wont happen to you but it will get you in the end. Cigarettes have dangerous side effects and death is one of them. If everyone would stop smoking it would lower the death rate not only in New Jersey but also in the United States.
If you smoke it causes health insurance to skyrocket. The equipment and the medicine required to arrest or cure smoke related diseases are phenomenal. The money used to treat smoke-related problems should be used to ensure the future of our youth.
New Jersey should be tobacco free because it is hurting the others that live in New Jersey. Its your life, live it however you want to but if you want your future to be clear than, Think dont smoke.

A Smoke Free New Jersey
Teenagers now a days are tempted into trying cigarettes more then ever. As a teenager myself I see the things that go on, and it really makes me think. Wouldnt it be nice to live in a smoke free world?
Fancy advertising that made smoking look glamorous and fun is no longer aloud to be advertised to teens. I think that thats a good step, but its not good enough. I know that people say kids see the ads and since they make it seem fun kids decide to smoke. I dont agree with that though. I think that kids are smart enough to know that what you see in a magazine isnt how it is in real life. It takes something better and bigger to truly make teens think before they smoke.
In my opinion one way to put a stop to underage smoking is to have real people talk to kids. Maybe if kids could see the affects and dangers of smoking they would never start. For instants, if someone who has lung cancer from smoking would go to a few schools, to show them the painful side affects to this bad habit. I think that it would definitely make some kind of an impact on kids.
What exactly is a healthy lifestyle? To me a healthy life style is living your life to the fullest, and doing everything you can to stay healthy and well. Part of that healthy lifestyle includes not smoking. As you know, exercising is a good way to stay healthy and strong. Try smoking and doing a daily workout I can guarantee you that its going to be a lot harder for you. Theres so much that we could accomplish is if we just keep reaching for our goal and dont let smoking get in the way. Unfortunately no matter how many times teens have been warned some of them will end up learning about the affects of smoking the hard way.
Smoking comes with many harmful side affects that are very dangerous to your health. So you decide is the image of smoking worth your life?
