PATIENCE
Patience is a doorway to everything.
It is the sense of urgency that most
betrays us, a feeling of not having
enough time.
Impatience is a virus spread by the
honking of one horn.
Patience implies trust.
Without that trust we become irritable,
insecure, anxious, tending to blame
time or whoever seems to be blocking
the way.
Wait for the results. Let the process work.
There is a time for heroic action,
to break the binding of convention,
or the rules. But it is extremely rare.
Usually we just need patience. Let the
clerk find the file. Let someone do their job.
Almost always when I am in a hurry I end
up early, with time to spare, and a swath
of unnecessary recklessness behind me.
I can never go too slowly.
After all, it is the stillness I seek.
