The parents of Sarah Cooper were Elizabeth Munson and Timothy Cooper. The Munson Record, by Myron A Munson, consists of many volumes documenting the family of New Haven CT. Thomas Munson was born 1612 in Rattlesden, Suffolk, England. The first record of him in America was in 1637 in Hartford, CT as he served in the Pequot War. He moved to New Haven, CT in 1639 with other "planters" to settle a new colony at Quinnnipiac, (The Quinnipiac River runs next to New Haven) Thomas Munson and his wife Susannah's tombstones are at Grove St. cemetery, New Haven, next to Yale University. Their "bodies" are buried in the Crypt with others in the basement of Center Church on the Green. Other hisorical people buried there are James Pierpont, one of the founders of Yale College, Theophilus Easton, a founder of New Haven and the governor of The New Haven Colony, and Margaret Arnold, wife of Benedict Arnold. He died on May 7th, 1685, his wife earlier in 1678.

* The Hist of Springfield states that Lieut. Cooper was a practicing attorney before the County Court, a practical carpenter and farmer, a bone-setter and a surveyor, a deputy at the General Court, and townsman, and an invaluable agent in dealing with the Indians,- a pillar of the town. It was remarked in the County Court, March 1675, that the Leiut. was putt to goe often for setting of Broken Bones. His home was on the hill over agawome. He lost his life dramatically, the burning of Sprinfield in Oct. 1675. An instrument by which Amoakussen disclaimed all right to certain Worronoco lands in possession of Cooper, dated 20 Oct 1664, was witnessed by Elizur Holyoke, Thomas Munson (the day after his daughters marriage to Timothy) and John Holyoke.
