Winners of the regional tournaments will advance to the U.S. Championship Tournament in Seattle, Washington on Saturday, September 2, 2000. The U.S. Pokémon champion will travel to Sydney, Australia on September 17, 2000, to represent the United States in the Global Pokémon Championship! See official rules for details.
Game link cables will be provided at the tournament.
Tournament players must already know how to play the indicated Pokémon games.
Basic Rules For All Tournaments:
You may not use any Pokémon that have been altered or boosted by any game enhancing devices. Doing this may result in game program malfunction and will result in your immediate disqualification from the tournament.
Each tournament match will begin with players selecting six Pokémon and having them ready at the Pokémon Center (located within your Game Boy Pokémon game pak). These six Pokémon are then shown to the opponent.
All Pokémon shown to an opponent may not be more than Level 100 (Level 70 or higher is recommended). AND the combined Level of your three Pokémon may not be more than 300.
From the six Pokémon you showed your opponent, you then select your own three different Pokémon to do battle. Do not show these three Pokémon to your opponent. (Hint: pick your three Pokémon based on what your opponent has shown you as his or her possible Pokémon). Deposit the three unused Pokémon in your Pokémon Center (located within your Game Boy Pokémon game pak).
Rules of Battle...if you break these rules, you will be disqualified from the Tournament:
Out of your opponent's three Pokémon, you may either "Put to Sleep" or "Freeze" only one Pokémon at a time. (Example: If you put one of your opponent's Pokémon to sleep, you may not put a second Pokémon to sleep or freeze a second Pokémon while that other Pokémon is still asleep.)
Mew and Mewtwo are not allowed to be selected or played in the tournament.
Neither player may use Self-Destruct or Explosion with their final Pokémon.
There will be five (5) rounds in each regional tournament. In the first two rounds, each pairing will compete for 15 minutes. When time is up, the player with the most number of surviving Pokémon will advance to the next round. If each player has the same number of surviving Pokémon, a "Sudden Faint" match will begin. In a "Sudden Faint" match, players may not change their current Pokémon in use. The player with the remaining Pokémon will be the winner. The final three rounds will continue until one player has exhausted their final Pokémon.
In Summary:
Round 1 (32 participants): 15 minutes
Round 2 (16 participants): 15 minutes
Round 3 (8 participants): Until Finished
Round 4 (4 participants): Until Finished
Round 5 (2 participants): Until Finished
During the tournament, reasonable time (Judge's discretion) is allowed for a player to select a move or attack.
During the tournament, if the batteries in either player's Game Boy fail, replacement batteries will be provided. The match will then restart with the same Pokémon that were originally chosen.
Judges decisions are final in all matters.

Injury due to pokemon-
Yes this pokemon craze does have a lot of drawbacks, and one of them is
Injury, like when kids try to open the pokemon powerbouncer with knives,
scissors, or mouths end up in a hospital or in a grave. And yet in Japan
a pokemon episode puts many kids in ceisures being so bright, and
too much flashing. But with the power-boucer incidents, people should
be more responsible!
