There are a few things to remember first of all before starting any spells. The first one is that spells are not 'magic' in the way that we see on TV and things don't just happen like they do on 'Bewitched' or any other program. Spellcrafting works when you use the natural energies of the earth and the environment that we live in. Nothing can happen, regardless of what we see on TV, outside of the laws of nature and the universe. Thus, when using the Tarot or any other spell, you are not using 'magic'. You are simply using the forces that already exist within the structure of the universe to produce results consciously. Everyone naturally spellcasts all day every day. When we wish for the bus to come, or if we light a candle for a romantic evening, we are unconsciously spellcasting. The only difference between casting a spell and living your life is that one is a conscious action to produce desired results and one is unconscious. Unfortunately, spell casting has come under fire in the past and labelled evil, Satanic or what-have-you. Spell casting is none of these things. Yet this reputation has drawn to spellcasting people that believe that spells are only to be used when desiring something that is unobtainable in natural reality. The truth is that nothing can be obtained by unnatural means. Wanting a spell to turn a lover against their spouse or making someone love you will not work as the underlying principle of the desire works against the natural laws of the universe. If you are looking for a spell such as these, you might be able to find something else on the web that will promise to offer you this. But whether or not it will work is an entirely different matter. Spell casting is, in it's purest form, understanding the nature of reality that we live in. This is why I have included both Spells and Meditations under the one section. Both of these things are about understanding and using the forces that exist in the universe. Spells and Mediations are ways in which we can learn and use these forces. Making your own spells is the best idea when using spells with the Tarot. As the Tarot is so personal and so accurate in guiding, using the Tarot to make your own spells that are just right for you is perfect. It is believed by many, and I agree with them, that making your own spells is the best way to get a result. The Tarot makes it easy to find out what spell you need and with a little imagination, you can have your own set of spells. It is even better to use the Tarot to make up a new spell each time you need one and let it guide you. Remember to use your deck that you have especially for Tarot Spells and to use only the Major Arcana at least at the beginning. When you are more confident with casting your own spells then you may incorporate the Minor Arcana. I just feel that the Major Arcana is better for this kind of thing. To get started, shuffle the deck as you would for a normal Celtic Cross spread for yourself. As you shuffle, think about casting a spell and ask the Tarot to provide you with the right card. Lay out the cards as you would normally for this spread and the last card in the spread will be the card that you should use for your spell. Don't worry if the card seemingly has little to do with your present dilemma. Remember that the Tarot is privy to great information that perhaps has not risen to your consciousness. If you do not feel right using this card, wait until another day and ask the Tarot again. Remember to think about the spread and use your intuition. Perhaps the information that you need to cast the spell will be forthcoming. When you are comfortable with the card that the Tarot has selected for you make your spell. There are a few things that you need to do but it is very simple. Just think about what words, thoughts and deeds you will need to do to make your desire be realised and incorporate those into a spell. Think about the elements of nature as represented in the Tarot. Fire, Water, Earth and Air. This is why I think that candles are so effective in spells casting, combining the elements of fire and using the universal principle of casting light is a powerful combination. Think about your card and what element it represents. It may be best to use that element and the visual representations of the card in your spell. Remember that making your spell is like doing a reading. Intuition is the best tool that you have for getting the right information. Then just use what you have to do your spell. Write a verse to recite for your spell, pick the element you are going to work with and either use the element or have it's representation on your altar or in your sacred space. Pick your own ritual and times to recite your verse. Whatever you are comfortable with. That's the idea. Always end your spell by thanking the universe for providing your with the result. Take a look at my Spells index for some tips if you are having trouble structuring your spells. It's all trial and error. There might be times of the day that are best for you and times that are not. Find whatever works for you and keep going until you have found the right way. A spell can be anything so keep your mind open. You just need to find the right one for you. *{+CORD+MAGICK+}* Magick with cords represents another simple magickal operation you can use alone or with other magickal applications, such as candle and petition magick. To use cord magick, all you need to know is the following: •Choice of cord colour (See colour correspondances) •Choice of cord length (Usually 33cm [13 inches]) •Choice of a disposable cord, or a re-useable one •Choice of Divinity (See Deities, Deities 2 and 3) •Choice of Annointing Oil(See Oil Recipes) Normally, cord magick uses a red, white, or black cord, the basic colors of early Goddess worship. (White twine is the best because it is universal. You can annoint with univeral oil.) Cords used in cord magick normally measure thirteen inches in length, and are made with the intention of giving the cord away or disposing of the cord when finished. Cord magick can, however, be used with any color within the rainbow. Cord magick is yet another way in which you can incorporate color magick. Need a healing cord? Get a green cord. A love cord? Get a red or pink one. All-purpose Candle/Cord Annointing Oil 1 cup rose petals 1 cup violets 1 cup water 1 cup olive oil 1 tablespoon clove oil 2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon 1 tablespoon powdered myrrh 1/4 cup wild fennel seeds Cord magick requires the magickal operation of charging each knot with a chant or charm. Each knot is sealed by drawing an equal armed cross over the knot and dabbing the knot with oil. Disposal of the cord depends on the purpose of the spell. If you wish to banish negativity, you would want to bury the cord immediately, away from your home. If the spell is for healing or drawing something toward you, keep the cord until the desire manifests, then release the magick and burn the cord. To release the magick, draw a pentagram in the air over the cord while picturing all the magick seeping away. As with petition and candle magick, you must first write out exactly what you want, then form a picture in your mind of the successful conclusion of the desire. As you tie the knots, concentrate on the picture of success. Tie the knots in the following order: 1 – 6 – 4 – 7 – 3 – 8 – 5 – 9 – 2 While you tie the knots, say one of the following chants: By knot of one, this spell's begun By knot of two, my words are true By knot of three, it comes to be By knot of four, power in store By knot of five, this spell's alive By knot of six, this spell is fixed By knot of seven, the answer's given By knot of eight, I meld with fate By knot of nine, the thing is mine! By knot of one The spell's begun. By knot of two It cometh true. By knot of three Thus shall it be. By knot of four 'Tis strengthened more. By knot of five So may it thrive. By knot of six The spell e fix. By knot of seven The Stars of Heaven. By knot of eight The hand of fate. By knot of nine The thing is mine. *{+BREAKING+A+SPELL+}* Sometimes, spells go against you, by either you or others, and so have to be dealt with. To deal with them you have to break the power of the spell. This can be achieved by the following spell. Remember, this is just a guide line. Choose the first Saturday after a Full Moon or the Full Moon itself. Use one white candle and one black candle for balance. Your props should be of a protective nature; therefore you would use amethyst, Apache tears or smokey quartz for gemstones (Clear quartz is fine.) Write a spell to undo what you have done, and be specific. On the eve of______ I cast a spell and the effects I created I must now quell. (specifics) May this spell be lifted and I now be gifted with_________. Most often this method will work but if not, your spell usually has a time limit of it's own so it will eventually stop working. Always keep in mind before working a spell: 'An ye harm none do what thou wilt'. |
