(Since 1982) -
These daze The Bibliofantasiac - a small 'zine - is based in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, a suburb of T.O.(Toronto). When it began, it was in the east end of T.O. and then moved downtown, closer to the streets... THE BIBLIOFANTASIAC began as a one-page information sheet, reviewing and trying to sell (or just plain get rid of; many were offered free for the taking) good and bad books cheaply by mail. This was in the very early 1980s. The idea quickly grew into a 24-page 'zine, with the addition of fiction and poetry by FIDO DOGSTOEVSKI, and then regular columns. At this time, other writers started joining in the fun.
NOTE:
THE BIBLIOFANTASIAC is now kaput, finished and over with, but we are re-opening THE BLOTTER, which was last produced in the middle 1980s. We'll pick up at no. 11 - THE BLOTTER was basically a theme-oriented publication. The first issue (on the pros and cons of modern technology) should be in print by the end of January, 2001.

Letters of Query, Submissions, et celery...
If you are sending material to THE BLOTTER (or any other publication)via "snail mail", please don't forget to enclose a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope... or at least enough postage for the receiver to be able to send mail back to you. Most small presses have no or little working capital, and with the increasing amounts of mail we receive almost on a daily basis, postage stamps are an expense we can't always afford. Besides, if you don't send postage, we won't be as quick getting back to you. Do you REALLY like to wait three months to get a reply? Didn't think so! If you don't have access to the internet (and you're looking at this via a friend's computer, etc.), you might want to hunt around for a service that offers free use, i.e. your local library or, if you're somewhere in this our fabulous country of Canada, a HRDC (employment resource) centre.
PUBLISHING IT YOURSELF...
You can always do your own thing. It's not difficult, but takes a LOT of time. You don't need much, though: a typewriter; steady, clear handwriting; or a computer or word processor (and printer). There are, though, some provide a computer and printer - you may have to pay a bit for printing. It's best if you know what you want to publish, and why; then start putting it into a form that will photocopy easily. Then find a place that doesn't charge too much for copying! You might need an adjustable stapler if you're making a book or "zine" a size like 8-1/2" x 11", but for most smaller sizes a regular stapler will do... If your'e using a pen - use black ink. A "Pilot" pen is best. Use glue sticks, but not cheap ones. Go to a stationery store, not a dollar store. Or, see-through tape is good, too. Cut stuff up and stick it down. If it turns out a bit crooked, say, you can tell people it's art. Why should everything have to look perfect? Life isn't perfect, and you're not doing it as a commercial venture, are you? Be yourself, and don't be afraid to make errors.

OR... WE CAN HELP YOU PUBLISH IT
If you can't find a publisher - and you don't have the time to do-it-yourself, for a (very) reasonable charge, basically at cost (our time, materials, and any postage involved) - we can do it for you. Ideally, we'll put it together, and send you copy-ready artwork, so you can then have it printed or copied in your own city, town or village. We'll work with you and we never ask for a cent until we've done our part and you're satisfied with it. So if you think you'd like us to help you with a project, don't be afraid to let us know. If you're on a low budget, say so, and we can probably work something out together. We're easy to get along with...

HOW TO REACH US -
How to reach THE BLOTTER via snail mail ...or tortoise mail, depending on the weather, road conditions and the state of Ye Olde Postal Onion... (We're probably okay on that latter bit, because there's just been another increase in Canadian postage - one letter-sized envelope now needs a 46 cent stamp. And there's tax on top of that. If you're writing for a free copy of The Blotter, you'll need to send at least two of those stamps, because it won't fit into a regular letter-sized envelope. Anyway, our mailing address is: THE Blotter, 39 Claremore Ave., Scarborough, Ontario M1N 3S1 Canada - or email us (click on address, bottom of this page)
DON'T FORGET TO SIGN OUR GUESTBOOK - at the top of this page. Thank you!
Oh yeah!! - If you have YOUR OWN WEBSITE, the following is a good way to begin getting it listed in SEARCH ENGINES. Because if you DON'T, no-one will ever be able to FIND you!!
Therefore, check ADD ME out... it's easy.
