"Animals are gods creatures, not human property, nor utilities, nor resources, nor commodities, but precious beings in God's sight. ... Christians whose eyes are fixed on the awfulness of crucifixion are in a special position to understand the awfulness of innocent suffering. The cross of Christ is God's absolute identification with the weak, the powerless, and the vulnerable, but most of all with unprotected, undefended, innocent suffering."

If you are a Christian you know that god wants us to have love and compassion for all. The golden rule: Treat others as you would like done onto you., yet would we want to be slaughtered in HORRIBLE factory farms where the animals are kept in crowded, dirty, smelly cages? I don't think so!!! Jesus would not want his wonderful creatures to live this way just so we could satisfy our craving for meat.
Most animals kept and raised for meat purposes are debeaked, castrated, or dehorned without anesthesia. This is like having surgery but being awake and alert while it's happening. "Your will be done, on Eath as it is in Heaven" This prayer, given to us by Jesus, wants us to make choices that are as merciful and loving as possible. Imagine there being NO slaughterhouses, or factory farms in Heaven. This is how it should be on earth.

For the simple reasons that all animals are creatures beloved by God and that God created them with a captacity for pain and suffering, we should adopt a vegitarian diet.
