| In these troubled times of failing politics, many nations and worlds have once again little choice but to resort to military hardware if their voices are to be heard - or at least not quickly silenced. While few will take the bold step of outfitting an army of soldiers, it is now common - if whispered - knowledge that battle-droid armies do exist. Their number remains difficult to ascertain, but there are more active battle-droids than galactic leaders would prefer to admit. Utterly heartless in the performance of their duties, and obeying their orders with the steel-cold loyalty of machines, battle droids are instruments of destruction, anathema to the more civilized peoples of the galaxy. In the present uncertain political climate, security is a scarce commodity. Battle droids are often given the likeness of their creator species, since they serve as stand-in soldiers, but the actual designs of these robotic creations may be a varying mix of several different factors. |
