 Rogue Squadron Released: 1998 Systems: Nintendo 64 The Basics A-wing Did you know Luke Skywalker and his Rogue Squadron flew missions for the Rebel Alliance before the famous battle of Hoth? Rogue Squadron takes place in between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back and details the beginning of this celebrated band of rebel fighters. You'll fill the shoes of Skywalker as he pilots X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, speeders, and T-16s over planets both hostile and friendly. The Details Ambush at Mos Eisley Mos Eisley is under attack from probe droids and TIE bombers. View from inside the cockpit. Rendezvous on Barkhesh Protect the convoy of rebel supplies as it travels through imperial territory. The Search for the Nonnah The Nonnah, a rebel spacecraft, has crashed, and it's up to the Rogue Squadron to protect it from imperial attack. Defection at Corellia Crix Madine, an imperial officer, wants to defect to the rebels. It's your job to make sure he gets away safely. Three snowspeeders. Liberation of Gerrard V The imperial governor of Gerrard V is stealing the city's valuables. Fly cover for Madine's Y-wings as they attempt to stop him. The Jade Moon The location of an imperial base has been discovered. Madine controls the ground attack, while the Rogue Squadron provides firepower from the air. Imperial Construction Yards Destroy the imperial's ability to produce imperial walkers. Those AT-STs won't survive long. Assault on Kile II The destruction of the imperial facility here will help to cripple the empire's ability to control other planets. Rescue on Kessel Wedge Antilles has been captured by the empire. Locate him before it is too late. Prisons of Kessel Along with Madine's help, free the rebels being held prisoner here. Battle Above Taloraan The capture of the Tibanna gas platforms from the imperials will be an important victory for the alliance. Escape From Fest Protect the rebel forces in their stolen AT-PTs on the ice world of Fest. Y-wings in formation. Blockade on Chandrila Make sure the convoy of supplies reaches the people of Chandrilla. Raid on Sullust Attack the imperial base on Sullust, a volcanic planet. Moff Seerdon's Revenge End Moff Seedon's reign of terror over the galaxy by defeating him here. The Battle of Calamari After the events of Return of Jedi, Wedge becomes the leader of Rogue Squadron, and the remnants of the empire must be stopped. Beggar's Canyon Race Dack, Wedge, or Zack through Beggar's Cannon on Tattooine. The Death Star Trench Run You know what to do... Battle of Hoth The famous battle that took place in The Empire Strikes Back is recreated here. The Verdict Rogue Squadron is everything a Star Wars game can and should be. If the opening level of Shadows of the Empire got you excited, here's a whole game with that level of excitement, only taken to the next level. Perfect in almost every way, the game realistically simulates the Star Wars universe down to the little details. The graphics are top-notch, and with the N64's optional RAM expansion pack, they look even better. There are plenty of missions, the choice of vehicles is staggering, and the difficulty level is set just right. You don't have to be a die-hard Star Wars fan to enjoy this one, but if you are, you'll love it even more. |
