In this sequel to Rebel Assault, Rookie One is back to take on the empire. This time, Darth Vader is developing a new top-secret TIE fighter with cloaking abilities. It's up to you to discover the source of these phantom TIE fighters and find a way to stop them.
The Details
Like its predecessor, Rebel Assault II consists of different levels woven together with cinema cutscenes featuring unknown actors. Gameplay consists mostly of aiming the target cursor at your enemy and pressing the fire button.
Flying the B-wing.
Chapter 1: The Dreighton Triangle
Fly a B-wing through the mysterious Dreighton triangle while shooting down TIE fighters.
Chapter 2: The Corellia Star
After the crash landing of your ship, you find your way into an imperial base. As you sneak through the installation, shoot any and all stormtroopers you see.
Navigating the mining tunnels.
Chapter 3: Mining Tunnels
Navigate a Correllian cruiser through the mining tunnels under the imperial base.
Chapter 4: The Mine Field
Asteroids dead ahead! Avoid the flying debris while clearing the area of mines. Be careful... the mines shoot back.
Chapter 5: Interceptor Attack
Shoot down TIE fighters in an X-wing.
Chapter 6: The Mining Facility
It's the same idea as chapter 3, only this time, there are mines shooting at you.
Chapter 7: TIE training
Here's the chance to fly a TIE fighter through a desert canyon.
Shooting TIE fighters.
Chapter 8: Flight to Imdaar
Shoot down TIE fighters in a Y-wing.
Chapter 9: Asteroid Field
Another asteroid field? With mines? Again?!
Chaper 10: Speeder Bikes
On a planet that only looks like Endor, maneuver your speederbike through the dense forest.
Shooting stormtroopers.
Chapter 11: Aboard the Terror
You get more stormtrooper target practice, this time aboard an imperial vessel.
Chapter 12: The Sewer
You'll face even more stormtroopers.
Chapter 13: Escaping the Star Destroyer
Fly through the star destroyer while trying not to get killed.
Chapter 14: The Attack
Shoot down phantom TIE fighters.
Chapter 15: Imdaar Alpha
See chapters 3 and 6.
The Verdict
Expect the same gameplay as Rebel Assault with improved graphics and cutscenes. But better visuals don't hide the cheesy acting or mind-numbing gameplay. Think Sewer Shark with a John Williams' score.
