Masters of Teras Kasi
Released: 1997
Systems: Sony PlayStation
The Basics
Han Solo vs. Chewbacca.
After the first Death Star was destroyed, the emperor decided the best way to crush the rebel alliance was to hold a street fighting tournament. Say what?
In a nutshell, that's the premise behind Masters of Teras Kasi, a 3D fighting game featuring characters from the Star Wars universe. What the heck is Teras Kasi, you ask? It's the fighting style of Arden Lyn, the woman hired by the emperor to beat up on the good guys.
The Details
Princess Leia vs. Mara Jade.
There are initially eight selectable characters: Arden Lyn, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Hoar, and Thok. There are also five special bonus characters that can be unlocked: Darth Vader, Mara Jade, Jodo Kast, Slave Leia, and a stormtrooper.
The Verdict
Arden Lyn vs. Boba Fett.
Tekken 3 this ain't. What sounds like an intriguing concept ends up getting wasted on a game with choppy, unpolished graphics, stiff controls, and sloppy play mechanics. With all the complex moves at your disposal, it's a little disappointing when you realize you can win almost every round by just using the kick button.
And the sight of Luke beating up on Leia (or vice versa) is just too much to bear.
