I am happy to read in the Trait d'Union no. 3 of 1998 that you intend to continue as the editor of the Trait d'Union in 1999. I am glad to be able to help you with translating my articles and letters when I send them to you. You know that my knowledge of the french language is not good, and that I am auto-translating letters to you on my computer. The translations are not very good and need some editing before you publish them. Can I send you the translations for editing them before you print the next Trait d'Union?

I am happy for the support that I have received from you for my researches and investigations of our family history. In 1998, I have expanded my knowledge of computers and the Internet, and I have created a website with information about the Saltiel family network and the results of my investigations. I have several new pages with interesting information. A few examples: 65 Saltiel listings in a 1933 business directory of Salonika; An article about the various spellings of our family name; instructions how to begin a genealogical research on the Internet; 20 references to Abraham Saltiel of Salonika, to help members of the family find their ancestors. I have also selected parts of the Trait d'Union of 1998 which can be found at the page http://maxpages.com/donadeli/union1998
You can find all these articles at my website, which can be translated into six different languages: french, english, spanish, italian, portuguese, german. I send you a french translation of the Saltiel listings in the 1933 business directory of Salonika and my article about the various spellings of our family name. Please edit it before printing it because of the translation errors.

In 1999, I intend to improve this website with more information about the family network an our publications. I will also continue my email distribution service which now reaches 180 family members in several countries. I hope to be able to establish the Saltiel GROup (Genealogy, Research and Outreach group) if I can find 20-25 family members who would like to help me with the investigations of our family history. Fortunately, Miles has decided to continue as the editor of the Shealtiel Gazette in 1999, and you Maurice decided to continue as the editor of the Trait d'Union. I hope that more family members will become members of the GROup in 1999. The aims of the GROup in 1999 will be: to establish contact with our Saltiel, Chaltiel and Saltell(i) relatives, and to find more subscribers to the Trait d'Union and the Shealtiel Gazette. We also ask for your contribution to the (french) edition of the Shealtiel Family Book.

About the Saltiel family association in France I would like to ask if Saltiels from all over the world can become member and how? Can they pay with credit card and how much would the annual charge be in US dollar? Would it be possible to become a member for a five-year period (1999-2003)?
