With the kind help of Telis Nahmias a translation was made of a 1933 Business Directory of Thessaloniki. It is now 65 years ago that 65 Saltiel families were living in Salonika.

This list has Saltiels listed with their profession and address. If you recognize any of the people in this list, please send an email to the address below. This will help complete the family tree of the Saltiel family of Salonika.

2: and 29: Abraham and Isaac were both Cloth Merchants and they lived at the same address in Alexander the Great street. They were probably father and son. Was Isaac the father or the son?

4: and 33: Abraham and Joseph were both Timber Merchants and they lived at the same address in Italias street. They were probably father and son. Was Joseph the father or the son?

9. This is an erroneous entry. There was not Angel Saltiel at that address. At 3, Viktoros Hugo Street was my grandfathers shop and the company's name was R. Angel and I. Saltiel Co. (Telis Nahmias, Greece)

12. Entry 12 was my father, but the name is incorrect. It should read Albert Saltiel not G. Saltiel. My dad, along with his brother, Salomon, owned a big store at 11, Vassileos Herakliou Street. They operated a wholesale silk mill, and had a thriving retail and wholesale business of luxury yarns that they imported from all over Europe and the U.S.(Lela Abravanel, USA)

14: and 26: The brothers Juda and Isaac lived at the same address. Their profession was Colonial Products (Juda) and Olive-oil Vendor. Their father Joseph had been a laundry-owner, but he had died in 1917.

38. This is the grandfather of Sandra Schwartz and the great-grandfather of Liron Carni. Moshe was a dried fruit merchant, and his son Isaac 28: or 31: followed him in this profession.(Vibeke Olsen, Amsterdam)

65: X. Saltiel is probably related to the owners of the company 63: situated at the same address 4, Hermou. The same goes for 2: en 29: (Abraham and Isaac) at 35, Alexandrou, and 12: and 30: (G. and Isaac) at 11, Vassileos Herakliou, 4: and 33: (Abraham and Joseph) at 23, Italias, 14: and 26: (Juda and Isaac) at 42?, Olympiou Diamandi, 25: and 36: (Jacob and M.) at 18?, Ioustinianou, 39: and 51: (M(oshe) and S.) at 167, Dimokratias.
