!BARCELONA 2000! 3RD REUNION OF THE SHEALTIEL FAMILY
Here you can find the most recent information about the next international reunion of the Shealtiel family. If you would like to have more information about the reunion, please contact one of the people listed below.
vibekeolsen@yahoo.com (Vibeke speaks English, Dutch and Danish)
saltielmi@aol.com (Michel Saltiel speaks French only)
phsaltiel@aol.com (Phillipe Saltiel speaks French and English)
After the success of the two previous Shealtiel family reunions in 1994 and 1997 (see http://www.shealtiel.org), members of the family have decided to organize a final third reunion for all our family so that we can meet each other again (or for the first time) and celebrate our reunion.
JANUARY 2000 - NEW DEADLINE FOR PARTICIPATION
The new deadline for participation at the family reunion in Barcelona will be March 15th, 2000. The new deadline has been negotiated with the hotel Rialto, to help those who were not yet able to decide if they could come to the reunion. We have a very sharp deal with this hotel, as you can stay three nights with breakfast for 666 FF only (I think that's less than $100). You can extend you stay with more nights if you wish, just let us know the exact dates. Please let us know if you will come. You can email Michel Saltiel at saltielmi@aol.com your names and he will add you to the list of participants. He will also send the new booking form to the families in our address list. Please reply before March 15th.
So far (January 2000) 42 families confirmed that they would like to come to the reunion. They come from France, Holland, Germany, Schweiz, Denmark, UK, Canada, USA, Argentina and South America. Between 14-17th July you can meet more than 100 of your Saltiel relatives, and discover the diversity of cultures and fascinating personalities that we are!
If you would like to add a few days of vacation at the Costa Brava, please let me know. I am looking for companions to spend one week at the camping at Tossa del Mar beach. I am also happy to answer all your other questions.

JULI 1999 - INFORMATION ABOUT THE HOTELS IN BARCELONA
Here is some information that I have found about the different hotels mentioned on the booking form. All the hotels have aircondition. Rialto 3* is a good hotel and I will stay there myself. If you have any special requirements please write these on the booking form for the reunion (eg. diet, handicap etc.)

A LETTER FROM PHILLPE SALTIEL, JULY 1999:
Paris, July 25th 1999
Dear cousin,
While in Salonica, we decided that the next family meeting should take place in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia in Spain, the ancient home of the Shealtiels. This letter is to provide you with initial information on the main points and to invite you to participate and return the completed booking form.
Our priority has been that you should have time to meet and talk with other members of the family, listen to new information about the family and the Jews before they left Spain. We also intend to visit together the beautiful old Jewish quarters of Barcelona and Gerona.
The reunion will take place between:
Friday July 14th and Monday July 17th 2000.
Please find herewith a provisional program and a booking form to be returned to us by August 31st 1999 : we have already reserved hotel rooms but need to have your personal confirmation.
After our Reunion, a 12 days optional tour of Spanish cities with Jewish history is being prepared. Please also mention if you are considering joining us for this.
We are looking forward meeting you in July 2000. Please feel free to raise any questions with me or any member of our secretarial team.

WHY WE HAVE THIS FAMILY REUNION
Who of us know what the next millennium will bring? 2500 years ago Prince Shealtiel was a captive in Babylon. 900 years ago the Saltiels arrived in Catalonia. 600 years ago Saltiels came to Salonika. 300 years ago Saltiels came to London. And today we live all over the world!
We still feel that we are one family and we are proud to be a family. We will gather in Barcelona and Gerona, the home of our ancestors, to celebrate that The House of Shealtiel still stands. When we come home, we will bring the key to our past: we have now learned all about our family history.
We invite YOU AND YOUR FAMILY to come to the third international Shealtiel family reunion in Barcelona July 2000. We expect that more than 200 members of our family from 26 different countries will come to celebrate with us.
What could be your reasons to participate in this reunion???
*You want to have a great vacation in sunny Spain and make some new friends...maybe you are curious to meet those cousins that you have heard so much about.
*Have a special and happy time together with all the family, socializing, dining, dancing and celebrating.
*You will see proof to our fascinating family history and you want to see that mansion in Gerona which belonged to your Saltiel forefather.
*You would like to find out if it is true that Saltiels have traits in common, like creativity, wilfullness and passion.
*Wishing to meet (again) your dearest cousins from abroad...
or maybe looking for long lost family members?
Please let us know if you are interested to participate in this reunion, and we kindly request you to fill in the questionnaire which is linked to this page. This will take just one minute of your time. Please click here if you want to see the entries of some other members of the family.
