About the GROup:
GROup means the Genealogy, Research and Outreach group of the Shealtiel Family Network. The aims of the GROup is to motivate and support further investigations on the history of the Shealtiel family. The coordination of the GROup activities is administrated by Vibeke Sealtiel Olsen.
Any member of the Shealtiel family can join the GROup and its activities. There is no obligation for GROup members to spend a fixed amount of time on investigations, we hope that you will join us because of enthousiasm and because you would like to share your discoveries with the other members of the GROup.
The GROup newsletter is distributed to all the members of the GROup. Here all new discoveries are published, as to encourage GROup members with their future activities and prevent double work. You can read more about the aims of the GROup in 1999 here.
About the interim comittee:
Since March 1998, the Shealtiel family network has a interim coordinating comittee, who will help the family network with its consilidation. I think this is a very good thing. The interim comittee consists of the following people: Rob Sealtiel (Israel), Miles Saltiel (England), Philippe Saltiel (France), Herman Bredl (Germany), Loukia Saltiel (Greece), Moni Saltiel (Israel), Lynette Grave (New Zealand), Francesca Carasso (South America), Moshe Shaltiel and Joseph Saltiel (USA). I read this list of names in Trait d'Union.
I hope that the comitte will succeed to make the family network a forum which all the Shealtiel family would like to join. As the founder of the family network, I would like to be kept informed about decistions and planned activities. Please let me know with whom I should exchange information.
I think the Family Network should continue publishing the Shealtiel Gazette, because it is something we can all be proud about, and it is adding to the knowledge of the history of our family. However, the high costs of printing and distributing the Gazette makes it a collectors item, so not every family member would subscribe to it. I therefore think the Family Network should also distribute a free newsletter for all members of the family, containing (eg.) anecdotes, family announcements and information about coming activities.
Early 1998, I published the first issue of the Asovrindar magazine, because I felt that all Shealtiels whould be able to know what the Shealtiel Family Network is about, and because I would like to stay in contact with members of the family. The distribution of Asovrindar depends on local volunteers, which keeps cost of printing and postage low. I believe that the local distribution of Asovrindar will the raise interest for the Family Network and show that any family member can benefit from the Family Network.
I have send some quesitons to members of the family, asking for their ideas and suggestions what the family network should be like. You can find their answers at http://maxpages.com/donadeli/questions
I look forward to hear from you.
With my best wishes,
Vibeke Sealtiel Olsen
