Welcome to my walkthrough! I'm starting this not knowing how far
I'm going to get, but hopefully I'll be able to write out the whole
game for those having trouble. Also, since the boy has no name at the
start of the game, I'm going to name him Trainer just for the
walkthrough. It's better than calling him boy. Well, here goes!
Just as a note to beginners, this walkthrough goes through File
Island's EASTERN path first. If you are a beginner, you want to start
going through File Island's WESTERN path as soon as possible. I wrote
this walkthrough going through the east first, because in the beginning
of the game, Mount Panorama and the Gear Savanna are blocked off. If
you are a beginner, here is the order you should read this walkthrough
in.File City, Native Forest, Tropical Jungle, Drill Tunnel, Mount
Panorama, Gear Savanna, Trash Mountain, Geko Swamp, Ancient Dino
Region, Overdell, Great Canyon, Misty Trees, Toy Town, Freezeland,
Factorial Town, Mount Infinity, Beetle Land.
SECTION 1: FILE CITY
You wake up in File City, surrounded by numerous in-training
Digimon and Jijimon. Jijimon will tell you your purpose in Digimon
World: the Digimon of File Island have all left the city because of
some mysterious force, and their world is in danger! As a talented
Digimon trainer, you must go out and explore File Island and convince
the once friendly Digimon to return to the File City. This will not be
an easy task, so you are given your own rookie Digimon to assist you:
either a Gabumon or an Agumon. When Jijimon is finished talking, you
are then free to explore Digimon World to the best of your ability.

* You will not be able to survive without items. Talk to Tokomon
in Jijimon's house, and he will give you enough items to get started on
your journey.
* Talk to Tanemon, who is located a little north of Jijimon's
house. Tanemon runs a meat farm, and will give you three pieces of
regular meat per day for your hungry Digimon.
* Training is essential to your new rookie Digimon. Without
sufficient training, your Digimon will not meet the specifications for
champion Digimon and may digivolve into the awful Numemon. You can
train in Green Gym, which is located west of File City. You can always
train as long as you want and anytime for free, but make sure your
Digimon doesn't exhaust himself!

Once you're satisfied with the training of your new Digimon, you
can then wander around Native Forest and the surrounding areas. Native
Forest is located south of Green Gym, and west of File City's main
square.

SECTION 2: NATIVE FOREST

Native Forest is the best place for beginners to explore. Most
enemy Digimon have around 300 HP, and their attacks are not lethal, so
it's a good training ground for young rookie Digimon. Be sure to fight
Modoki Betamon as often as possible, because they often drop sm.
recovery, which you'll need to stock up on if you want to be able to
travel farther in the game. Native Forest is home to six recruitable
Digimon, but you'll only be able to find four of them early in the
game. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for Digimushrooms that appear
randomly on the forest floor; they make a good snack when your Digimon
is hungry and you're short on food.

Recruitment Digimon! Upon entering Native Forest, you will meet up
with an Agumon who will battle you. You cannot escape this battle, and
you must defeat Agumon before you can enter Native Forest any deeper.
Defeat Agumon and he will join the city, opening up a convenient shop
to hold any extra items that you may have. Agumon can hold up to 100
different kinds of items, which comes in very handy since you can only
carry 10 different items with you at a time.

Recruitment Digimon! In Native Forest, you will find an area called
Kunemon's bed which is located east of the Native Forest toilet.
There, you will see Kunemon sitting on a large bush. What's the
problem? Kunemon's hungry! Feed him a food item from your inventory,
and he will challenge you to a fight. Win, and Kunemon will join the
city. Kunemon has about 900 HP, so make sure that your Digimon has
comparable stats. When you win, Kunemon opens a new path in the city's
main square. When you return to the city and talk to Kunemon, he will
tell you about eating through the bushes to make the path. This path
leads you to the Digital Bridge area, which is a lot easier than
walking all the way around Native Forest and back up to get to the
bridge!

Recruitment Digimon! Palmon is hiding in Native Forest. She says
she's a flower. Find Palmon south of the Native Forest toilet. She
will be facing away from you. Talk to her, and she will tell you that
she is a flower. Keep talking to her until she fights you. Defeat
her, and Palmon will join the city and upgrade the meat farm for you,
relieving a very happy Tanemon. Tanemon will now be found lounging
around in one of the planters, while Palmon runs the farm! Palmon will
give you three giant meats a day now, which should help feed those your
Digimon.

Recruitment Digimon! One of the most important Digimon you will
encounter in the game's early stages is Coelamon. Talk to Yuramon and
Tsunomon, and they will tell you about a mysterious shadow that appears
at Coela Point each afternoon. Coela Point is the beach a couple
screens south of Digimon Bridge. Head to Coela Point during the
afternoon, and talk to the shadow that is swimming close to the shore.
A Coelamon should emerge from the water, allowing you to cross to the
other shore. Cross to the other side, then go north, following the
shore. By the time you get to the bridge, it should have been
repaired, and you will then be able to cross at any time. Go back to
Coela Point and talk to Coelamon, and he will join the city. Coelamon
opens an item stand in the city square, where you can buy the items
small recovery, regular meat, and MP floppies.

Recruitment Digimon! To the east of Palmon's spot, you will find a
tree that has a door on it. The door tells you that no one's home and
to go away, but of course you're curious! Come to this door after the
door Mount Infinity has been opened, and you'll find a surprise waiting
for you in the tree! It's Etemon! Etemon does anywhere from 500-1000
points of damage to your Digimon before the battle even starts, so be
prepared! As an ultimate Digimon, Etemon has about 6000 HP. After
defeating him, Etemon will join the city, only to be kicked out by the
other Digimon! You can find him sulking near the Digimon Bridge, but
also willing to sell you a Golden Banana, the Etemon digivolution item,
for 50,000 bits.

Recruitment Digimon! The last Digimon of Native Forest isn't really in
Native Forest, but rather is located near the Digimon Bridge. Ninjamon
will appear randomly after your city has a point value of 45 or more
(city's prosperity value.) I've also heard that he may show up when your city
is above 40, but I can't confirm that. Ninjamon is more likely to show up
during the night, as he is a ninja. He will challenge you to a battle, and if
you can defeat him, he will join the city. Ninjamon hangs out in the
secret item shop, and is always willing to give you information about
items.

Well, now you're probably wondering, where do I go? And if
you've seen Dragon Eye Lake, you're probably wondering how you catch
the fish. Well, all in time. You've only started. ^_^ Next up is
the Drill Tunnel and the Tropical Jungle! I'm going to put the
Tropical Jungle first because going through the Mangrove Region gets
you the item shop upgrade right away, but you can do the Drill Tunnel
first if you'd like. Actually, you might find that you have to
alternate between the Drill Tunnel and the Tropical Jungle, if you'd
like to save time.

SECTION 3: TROPICAL JUNGLE

To the east of Digital Bridge, you will find enemies that are
much tougher than those in Native Forest. Hopefully you have
digivolved your rookie Digimon into a strong champion Digimon so you
can efficiently adventure through the jungle. Tropical Jungle's
recruitment Digimon are mostly Digimon that will upgrade currently
running shops, but you can also find a helpful new shop with
Centarumon.

Recruitment Digimon! Piximon can be found from time to time hovering
around on the main screen of Tropical Jungle, south of the Digimon
Bridge. You can tell if you're on the right screen if there are two
Muchomon (during the daytime) or two J-Mojyamon (during the night), and
if there are three directions to go from that screen. Spotting Piximon
is very rare; I've been told that Piximon shows up at the same time every day,
but that it is different in every game. Make sure that you pay attention to
what time of day it is if you see him, so that if you can't defeat him then you
know what time to return later. Thank you to everyone who e-mailed me and told
me about Piximon's daily routine, your help is much appreciated! When you
finally find him, Piximon is no easy battle! As an ultimate Digimon, he's
tough to defeat; unless you've got a strong Digimon and effective techniques.
Watch out for Piximon's confusion storm! Once you defeat Piximon, he appears in
the Item shop from time to time, selling his training manual for a mere 50,000
bits.

Recruitment Digimon! Betamon can be found in the east section of the
Tropical Jungle, near the Mangrove Region. To find Betamon, head east
in Piximon's screen to the small wooden bridge. Cross the bridge but
don't go to the next screen to the east. Instead, head north (up, not
north towards Digimon Bridge) and you will come to an area with a
ModokiBetamon. Pass the ModokiBetamon up and head west, where you will
find Betamon. He is an easy battle: defeat him and he will join the
city. Betamon helps Coelamon at the item shop, adding a few special
items of his own.

Recruitment Digimon! Centarumon can be found in the Amida Forest,
which can be found by heading east from the small wooden bridge and
then north from the screen with the readable sign. Centarumon isn't
welcoming to strangers in his forest, and if he spots you in the Amida
Forest, he will shoot you. He halves your Digimon's HP with each shot,
until your Digimon is left with only 1 HP. When your Digimon has only
1 HP, you will be kicked out of the Amida Forest and forced to start
all again. Your job is to head to the back of the Amida Forest, to find
the door that is marked with an O instead of an X. So what's the
trick to getting past Centarumon? Well, one thing is, don't let him
see you! Centarumon can't see you if you hide behind the northern part
of the small rows, and thus you won't get shot as often. If you do get
shot, feed your Digimon a recovery floppy, so that he doesn't get
injured and thrown out of the forest. Once you do make it to the row
marked with an O, Centarumon will greet you and join the city.
Centarumon opens up a clinic in the city, selling medicine and healing
your monster's tiredness. He will also open the door to the Ancient
Dino Region for you.

Recruitment Digimon! Perhaps you've heard from Tanemon about a strange
plant that grows somewhere in the Tropical Jungle. If you go to the
plant, which is located north of Piximon's screen then east from the
Tropical Jungle toilet, you will find that the plant is dying of
thirst! Don't you hope it rains soon? If you can't solve the problem
of helping the plant out, check near Tanemon's planter box on the 15th
of the month. There will be a rain plant growing there, and you can
take it to use on the tiny plant. Once you use the rain plant, a
Vegiemon will grow from the tiny sprout! Vegiemon will join the city,
and will take over Palmon's job at the meat farm. Vegiemon will now
give you three sirloins a day and will allow you to buy hawk radishes
and super carrots: items used for training. Unlike Palmon, Vegiemon
will not allow you to buy extra meat, so don't waste any sirloin!

Beyond the Tropical Jungle lies Overdell, Ancient Dino Region,
and Great Canyon. You can explore these areas now if you'd like, or
head back and work with the Drimogemon in the Drill Tunnel. Great
Canyon is a good place to explore, and a good way to work for some
extra money if you need it. Overdell might not be accessible to you
yet, but it's always worth a visit. Ancient Dino Region is a good
place to learn new fire and wind techniques, while also recruiting one
new Digimon.

SECTION 4: DRILL TUNNEL

To the west of Native Forest you will find the Drill Tunnel.
Drimogemon live in the drill tunnel; you'll find three Drimogemon
working hard to dig a path to Mount Panorama. Today they're digging.
Tomorrow they're digging. It's so fun. ^_^ Actually, for you it's not
so fun. The Drimogemon are a bit slow, so you'll have to wait while
they open up the tunnel to Mount Panorama. The good thing about the
Drill Tunnel is that there are enemies, but that the enemies won't
chase you and they will only battle you if you bump into them. They're
stationary Goburimon, so it shouldn't be a problem.

On the Drill Tunnel's second floor, cross the bridge to the west
and talk to the Drimogemon there. He will battle you, so be prepared!
This Drimogemon has about 1200 HP, which is still a reasonably easy
battle for your Digimon. If you defeat him he will promise to work hard
to finish the drill tunnel. Only, he's the cook and doesn't drill at
all. ^_^ After defeating him, head out and go back over the bridge.
To the south, you will find the third floor of the Drill Tunnel, where
a Drimogemon is happily digging. He tells you that it will take a long
time, so come back later. Wonder what he means? You can't do anything
more with that Drimogemon, so head back to the screen with the three
Goburimon, then head east. You will find a Drimogemon digging, with a
large pile of dirt behind him. If you talk to him, he'll employ you to
carry dirt out of the tunnel, so that the digging can go faster. He'll
pay you 500 bits for each trip you make, but be careful! You cannot
leave the drill tunnel until you've dumped the dirt outside and
returned the dirt tray, so make sure your Digimon has everything that
he needs! Oh, by the way, there's no toilet in the Drill Tunnel, so
make sure your Digimon has already gone before. You don't want to add
to all the dirty stuff in the tunnel, do you? ^_^ After you're done
hauling however much dirt you want to (you can haul one load or ten
loads, it doesn't matter), you must leave the dirt tunnel and wait a
few days for them to finish. A few days later, you'll find that the
Drimogemon that you helped has opened the tunnel, but has found a big
rock blocking the entrance. Your Digimon can handle the rock, easily
pushing it out of the way. Recruitment Digimon! Behind the massive rock you will find the Lava
Cave. The Lava Cave is home to Meramon, the fiery Digimon. Meramon is
angry about what is happening to Digimon World, and wants to stop it by
destroying all he can. When you interrupt him, he challenges you and
your Digimon to a battle. Meramon is an easy battle, and when you
defeat him, he will join the city. After you recruit Meramon, the
Native Forest entrance to Mount Panorama is cleared and you are free to
explore there. Meramon joins the city as the resident chef; he opens a
restaurant across from the item stand, and serves several meals that
raise your Digimon's stats. Note that your Digimon will only eat at
the restaurant if he's hungry, and will refuse the food if he's not.
Restaurant meals can only be eaten then and there, and are not sold as
items to be carried with you.

After Meramon's gone from the Drill Tunnel, the lava river should
be gone and you should be able to walk around down in that area. If
you head north down in that moat-like area, you should happen upon a
few DemiMeramon in the cave. The DemiMeramon are not hostile and will
talk to you, not fight you. At the end of the moat, you will find a
couple of Item Computers. In the area with the DemiMeramon that talks
about cards, run along the eastern wall to find a hidden passageway
with two Item Computers. These Item Computers hold a Brain Chip and a
Quick Chip, helpful items at this point of the game. (Thanks to
psychic_strata, who found this hidden area! ^_^ ) Besides the Item
Computers in the Drill Tunnel, there's nothing really left to find.
Head south in the moat until you find the Drimogemon again. He's
digging again, and talking to him informs you that he will be done
soon. Come back in a few days, and you will be free to run through to
Mount Panorama anytime you'd like.Recruitment Digimon! Talk to the Drimogemon once he's done, and he'll
join the city as its treasure hunter. Drimogemon will find you
treasure for either 1,000 or 5,000 bits. Give him 1,000 bits, and
hewill search for five days. Return anytime after five days and he
will give you an item that he found. For 5,000 bits, he will go for
ten days. Generally, the 5,000 bit package will give you a better
item, but sometimes Drimogemon brings back worthless items anyway, so
it's all based on luck. When you go to pick up your item, make sure
you have an empty space in your inventory, otherwise Drimogemon will
say you have no room and will not even give you the item at another
time!!! Be careful about that!

Now you're probably wondering about the Drimogemon on the third
level. He's always digging, no matter how many times you come back!
Well, he did tell you that it would be quite a long time, didn't he?
This Drimogemon will not be done until your city's prosperity rating is
higher than 45. He stops digging because he finds a room where he
bumps into an ancient tablet, with the word Leomon on it. Hmmm, what
could it be for? ^_^

Nanimon sighting! Once you recieve Leomon¹s tablet, return to the cave and look
to the left of where the tablet once was. You should find Nanimon hiding there.
If this is the first time you have seen Nanimon, he will drop the Digital
Keychain that will allow you to carry 20 items in your inventory. If this is
the fifth time that you are seeing Nanimon, then he will drop a second Digital
Keychain that will allow you to carry 30 items, and he will join the city!
Nanimon can be found in five different areas on File Island, so if you¹re having
trouble finding him, consult these sections: Great Canyon, Toy Town, Ancient
Dino Region, and Factorial Town. To recruit him, you¹ll have to see him in all
five areas.

The Drill Tunnel is complete once you find the tablet, so there's not much
reason to be in there after that! By the way, if you're stuck on how to get
back into the Drill Tunnel instead of going through to Mount Panorama, when they
want to know if you should run through, say no and you can enter the tunnel
normally.

SECTION 5: ANCIENT DINO REGION

Ancient Dino Region is a strange place. In the Glacial Zone,
time moves slower than normal. In the Speedy Zone, time runs faster
than normal. Ancient Dino Region is home to many dinosaur type Digimon
(as you may have guessed ^_^ ) such as Monochromon types, Brachiomon,
and Tyrannomon himself. Tyrannomon is the guardian of the doorways in
Ancient Dino Region, so to enter the region in the beginning, you will
have to battle him. To get to the Ancient Dino Region, go to the Amida
Forest where you met Centarumon, and go through any one of the back
entrances. You will find yourself in the Ancient Dino Region, ready to
explore!continue in part 2.....
