Good question, Harvey!

And the answer is...BECAUSE ALL THE NON-TAGALOG REGIONS ARE COLONIES OF THE
TAGALOG EMPIRE!

Isn't that the very case TODAY!

Dindo

There are no tyrants where there are no slaves, Dindo! Because you let yourselves
be put under the yoke imposed on you by the Constitution written without a referendum on language policy beforehand, there you are, in a situation that only a few non-Tagalogs vocally resist. Where are the others? Why don't they speak up? Especially the youth. Are they brainwashed by misdirected nationalism? Is turncoatism to one's own tongue in the works? Is there some aquiescense and connivance involved in the formation of this sad situation? Silence is usually construed as a "yes" remark. Like what Mr. Ernie Turla says, "Let's call on Congress and the President to lift this martial law imposed on languages. This martial law on languages should be put to an end to make all indigenous languages equal and free." You have to give them a sense of pride for who they are, and inculcate love of one's own language and culture in their hearts. That's the very first thing to do. Put back in them what they have lost in their schooling.

Sorry for saying something that I did not know was ambiguous and offensive,
Dindo. I was just trying to sympathize with Bisayans when I called them
"poor". If you don't want Tagalogs joining your cause, it's okay and I might
as well unsubscribe from DILA too. And I won't get involved on language issues
anymore. After all, my language is already safe on the country's pedestal. It
is the national language. It is the medium of instruction. It grows by leaps
and bounds instead of being marginalized like its neglected sister-languages.
Government policy is all out to help it get promoted. Ethnic cleansing and
language genocide through martial law on languages is in place. Time will come
when there will be no more cultural diversity there. It will be like how it is
in Japan and in Vietnam. One country, one language!
