Dear Senator Martinez,

My American Government class has been studying the amendments of the United States’ Constitution. I have realized that as a nation, we fail to provide equal rights to all citizens. For this reason, I feel that I must propose an amendment that can help better our society. Women and people of all colors should be paid the same amount of money for the same amount of work.
I believe this change is strongly needed because everyone deserves the same rights. Our nation will benefit from this as a whole by enabling our citizens to a live more successful and prosperous life.
The people whom I expect to be opposed to this amendment would be rich, wealthy people. The arguments that they would most likely put up against my proposal would be: “That’s life.”, and “Too bad, so sad.” Our citizens who would be in favor of my idea would be immigrants, the poor, blacks, and, of course, women.
