SOCIETY
Concordia society has several classes which include the Shaars(rulers), Oathtakers (Lords), the lidden mages, the clergy, the craftsman, the merchants, the worksers(similar to peasants), soldiers, and the slaves. The shaars are the rulers of each indivual province in concordia Oathtakers have the highest power and influence under the shaars, while slaves have no rights (including freedom). One important aspect of concordia society is that the Oathtakers do not inherit their power, but instead must earn it. This clearly lends a certain motivation to skill at arms, for even a common warrior has the opportunity to seige great fame and wealth for himself. And since anyone not a slave must (by law) serve as a soldier, all members of society have the chaance to achieve greater rewards. All of those that is except for slaves. Slaves are property, and children of slaves are born as property. They cannont advance their positions in society, except perhaps if they are somehow to be set free. Even then, however, they would not be welcomed as citizens, and would almost without exception be forced to find a new home elsewhere. |
