The demi-humans are the more mystical and mysterious races that roam the realm of Concordia, throughout the years each of the races carving their own little nitch into the history of our world. 6 races make up the demi-human culture of life: Gnomes, Goblins, Elves, Halflings, and Dwarves. Below you can read about each of the races attitudes towards the other races of Concordia, general information on the races history, and other tid bits of info. Enjoy.
Goblins and Gnomes
These two races are very similar on their attitudes and view towards the other races of Concordia. Both of these races are well like and looked after by the other races. Using this to their advantage, the 'traders' as they are more commonly referred to by the other races, have built a vast tradeing empire across concordia and throughout each province. Tradeing outposts scattered througout the land, along with vast sections of most of the larger cities being owned and industrialized by the gnomes and goblins. This advantage has been reaped for all it is worth and made these two races wealthy and happy at the same time. Neither the goblins or the gnomes have a certain province that they call home to, but are the only races to be spread evenly throughout Concordia. Neither of these two races are enslaved by any race, as they are viewed as more valuable as a trader. Many are often hired to trade for major figures throughout diffrent cities and towns.
Goblins stand 3 1/2' to 4 1/2' in height, their skin different shades of green or red, their eyes a dark green, gleaming yellow, or dark blue in color. The goblin culture speaks in four diffrent languages a common tongue(slang) from around Concordia, their own goblin tongue, then the tounge of the traders, a language developed by the gnomes and goblins to develop communication between the two... This language is an ancient one, first formed before the common language of today was learned by all the races., and most our now fluent in the gnomeish language. Goblins are considered charismatic by the other races of Concordia, while they do not have a problem with any of the other races. Growing no body hair and a speaking quickly are very noticable traits about the goblins. During the great war the goblins stayed in the south mainly, but remained able to trade between the humanoid provinces, unlike the gnomes.
Gnomes stand from 3' to 4' in height, theirskin ranging from tan to an almond brown. The Gnomes speak in the common tongue(slang), their own gnomeish tongue, the traders tongue, and now most are fluent in the goblin language. Concordian gnomes are fairly laid back unless involved in their tradeing business then they become very serious. Most are quick witted, and all have a very good sight. This helping prevent from theft, while gnomes watch each others back along with goblins... If one notices a thief, he will quickly point it out to the rest of his brethren. Althought the authorities will take care of the theif. Gnomes have a deep voice while their hair color varies from silver, white, blonde, or brown. During the great war the gnomes kept their tradeing alive, although they were not allowed to trade from province to province, only within province. Gnomes are not as charismatic as the Goblins are, yet still have no problems with any of the other races.
Elves
Their are two types of elves in Concordia. First are the Jekur Elves. Their skin and hair is a jet black shade from head to toe, slightly shorter than the other elves, and are looked at by the other races as a punished race by the gods. All other physical traits of the jekur are the same as normal concordian elves. The Jekur were driven from the face of Concordia before the great war had erupted pushed deep into the ganden mountains, but then dissappeared. Only rare spottings elves of this race have been whispered scince then. The Jekur still exist, it is not known if their are large cities, but in the whispering wood, and misty forest you may encounter them. Now we have the Elves of Concordia. Concordian elves usually stand from 4 1/2' to 5 1/2', slender creatures. Very agile, thus allowing concordian elves to move, fire an arrow, and move again. This tactic was used heavily when their home of Korinia withstood attacks during the great war. Their eye color being shades of green, blue, and brown. Their hair from blonde to brown, they have a soft lulling voice and are great thinkers. The elves stay mainly in Korinia, where they feel safe and comfortable. While it is not rare for them to venture out past the province, they just prefer their safe haven. The elves have good relations with the humans, goblins, gnomes, dwarves, and halflings. While the Orcs, Ogres, and Lizardmen prefer not to deal with the elves, they will if need be. Elves are also used as slaves if captured by slave drivers. While the elves do not belive in slavery themselves, and their are rumored to be no slaves in korinia.
During the great war the elves stayed home in korinia, their primary objective to secure their own province before helping the humans. The elves were great in population working together in harmony to secure their land. The edges of the forest were manned with deadly archers hiden high atop the trees, makeing anyone attempting to enter the wood easy pickens.. Throughout the first 5 miles of wood booby traps were laid by the rangers of Korinia. Behind the 5 mile radius more archers were placed in camouflaged outposts. While deeper into Korinia: homes were raised into the trees, armies trained in gorilla tactics. Thus anyone venturing into the woods of Korinia were eliminated quickly if their intentions were not known or harmful. After holding off the attacks from the humanoid forces, the elves formed a pact with the struggling humans that could of been considered the turning point of the war.
Dwarves
The dwarves of Concordia live in the province of Khoton. A proud and sturdy race in Concordia, the dwarves were persecuted during the great war and taken as slaves to the humanoid races. The main factor keeping the dwarves alive being that there race was vastly large, and very sturdy warriors. As the humanoid races looked down to the dwarves as a pushover race that would be taken easily. The humanoid races attacked the dwarves while thinned out over Concordia attacking the humans and elves at the same time, this not being a smart move and allowing the dwarves to overcome the humanoids in Khoton.
Dwarves stand between 3 1/2' to 4 1/2' tall, and have a very sturdy build to their bodys. Their hair ranging from a dull grey, fiery red, or dirty brown color. While they also grow facial hair more rapidly than the other races, beards are grown long to belived to show the strenght of the dwarf by the length of the beard.. Their beards and hair usually kept braided with brilliant and vibrant colors. Dwarves have a very serious attitude towards life, beliveing that hard work and a good faith will provide a healthy and happy life, while this is not always the case. Dwarves have a tendancy to indulge in various drinks and are often celebrating something with wines and dwarven spirits...
Halflings
Halflings are considered pests and annoying throughout Concordia, these nomadic creatures are seen fleeing from major cities and populated areas mostly. The life of a halfling is hard and cruel, the humanoid races looking at them as less than humans, and poor slaves the halflings are often killed for sport or simple clensing of the province. The demi-humans of concordia view the halflings as annoying pests , while they look at it as the gods way of cursing the race and let them live with their curse. Halflings are sparse and rare to see, while they do not speak any of the major tounges, their own dilect is considered a useless language made up of grunts and gestures. |
