Gold / Silver Gym Leaders and How To Beat Them

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]
Graphics Gallery!

Gym 1: The Violet City Pokémon Gym

Leader: Falkner

Pokémon:
Pidgey Lv. 7
Pidgeotto Lv. 9

Prize:
Zephyr Badge ((lets Pokémon use Flash outside of battle))
TM31 Mudslap
$900

Tips:
The Pokémon in this gym are a weak flying type. If you caught some new and old Pokémon on the way to Violet City you should have no problem beating him.

Gym 2: The Azalea City Gym

Leader: Bugsy

Pokémon:
Metapod Lv. 14
Kakuna Lv. 14
Scyther Lv. 16

Prize:
Hive Badge ((makes Pokémon up to level 30 obey you))
TM49 Fury Cutter
$1,600

Tips:
Bugsy uses to Pokémon that use Harden alot and ((i think)) knows tackle. So if you picked Cydaquil as your starter, you'll have no problem in this gym. But if you didn't, I would use a Rattata or Sentret.

Gym 3: The Goldenrod City Gym

Leader: Whitney

Pokémon:
Clefairy Lv. 18
Miltank Lv. 20

Prize:
Plain Badge ((lets Pokémon use Strength outside of battle and boosts you Pokémons speed))
TM45 Attract
$2,000

Tips:
Before you battle Whitney the trainer before her likes to use Jigglypuff, 3 of them too. SO I would go heal before you try to take on Whitney. If you caught a GeoDude or Onix this is the place to use them, the Miltank is tough with its Rollout technique that does more damage each time it hits until is misses. After you beat Whitney she starts crying ans won't give you the badge, talk to the trainer below her and then talk to Whitney again and she'll fork over the badge and the prizes.

Gym 4: The Ecruteak City Gym

Leader: Morty

Pokémon:
Gastly Lv. 21
Haunter Lv. 21
Haunter Lv. 23
Gengar Lv. 25

Prize:
Fog Badge ((makes Pokémon up to level 50 obey you, and lets you use Surf outside of battle))
TM30 Shadow Ball
$2,300

Tips:
This gym is odd, if you step ouside of the hidden path you fall through the floor and you will be taken back to the entrance. For a map of the hidden path look below. But to beat the gym leader use a good Kadabra or Drowzee.

Gym 5: The Olivine City Gym

Leader: Jasmine

Pokemon:
Magnemite Lv. 30
Steelix Lv. 35
Magnemite Lv. 30

Prize:
Mineral Badge
TM23 Iron Tail
$3500

Tips:
This gym has no Jr. Trainers, just Jasmine and two Magnemites and one BIG Steelix. Ground Pokemon work VERY well here because ground is protected from the Magnemites electricity. And Steel is week against Fire, so use fire and ground in this gym. Also if you have a good water pokemon, use it against Steelix, because Steelix is part ground.

Gym 6: The Cianwood Island Gym

Leader: Chuck

Pokemon:
Primeape Lv. 27
Poliwrath Lv. 30

Prize:
Storm Badge
TM01 Dynamic Punch ((lets you use Fly outside of battle and makes traded pokemon up to level 70 obey you))
$3000

Tips:
All Pokemon in this gym are fighting type and or part fighting type. Pack your roster with quick Psychics and tough Flyers with flying attacks.

Gym 7: The Mahogany Town Gym

Leader: Pryce

Pokemon:
Seel Lv. 27
Dewgong Lv. 29
Piloswine Lv. 31

Prize:
Glacier Badge ((lets you use Waterfall outside of battle))
TM16 Icy Wind
$3100

Tips:
In this gym, you'll go sliding all the way to the opposite wall or a patch of non-ice if you step on a block of ice. I don't have a map for this one but to get to the leader go right beside the left statue on the left. Then go up to the trainer with blue hair. Then go right and you'll stop on a non-block of ice. Then go down to another non-block of ice and then go left to that non-block of ice. Then go up and you have to battle the trainer with the blue hair. Then go right and you'll be infront of Pryce on a non-block of ice. Use Fire, Fighting, and Electric Pokemon in this gym.

Gym 8: The Blackthorn City Gym

Leader: Clair

Pokemon:
Dragonair Lv. 37
Dragonair Lv. 37
Kingdra Lv. 40
Dragonair Lv. 37

Prize:
Rising Badge ((all pokemon will obey you know))
TM24 Dragon Breath
$4000

Tips:
In this gym you must push the boulders down from the second floor to create a path to Clair. Use ice in this gym.
