Literary works also inspired another member of the young generation, Hynek Bocan (b. 1935), who displayed an exceptional sense of social irony and sarcasm in the films "No Laughing Matter" ("Nikdo se smat nebude" - 1965), based on a story by Milan Kundera; "Private Hurricane" ("Soukroma vichrice" - 1967), based on a novel by Paral; and "Honor and Glory" ("Cest a slava" - 1969), based on a novel by Michal. Self-irony, a sense of atmosphere, and an intellectual approach to the subject matter were characteristic of Bocan's talent. Contrary to his contemporaries - Bocan inclined more toward traditional cinematic techniques and the use of professional actors.
