Why Sponsor?
Animal shelters, sanctuaries and organisations all over the world have to rely on charitable donations to enable them to care for the animals or work towards saving an endangered species, and sponsorship is a great way to help them continue their good work. Of course it's fantastic when someone is able to adopt a pet from a shelter and take him home as part of the family, but not all animals, domestic as well as wildlife, are suitable to be adopted. Obviously having an elephant or tiger snuggling down in the back bedroom is not exactly practical (!), but then again, neither is a feral (a stray who has run wild) cat or dog who has been rescued from the streets and is too wild to be rehabilitated into living in a house (although some can), traumatised ex-labatory animals, or old or sick animals who need specialist care.
There are all kinds of animals to sponsor from dogs and cats, to wildlife, to rescued farm animals. On this page we will be compiling a list of links to animals who need sponsors, and we will be constantly adding to it, so would love to hear any suggestions from you.
A Great Gift
Are you the kind of person who has everything? Or have you always wanted a pet but not had the time or the space to look after one? Or do you see yourself as someone who would suit having a lion as a buddy? Well, why not ask to have an animal sponsored in your name as a present? If you have a friend or family member who is animal crazy then they're sure to love having an animal sponsored in their name. Sponsorship is a super present that you can give to a whole family as a gift too.
Who We Have Sponsored
FLOSS MacKENZIE, a feral cat rescued by Rowan Tree Shelter, West Fife Cats ProtectionThis shelter has a list of Clan Cats who need sponsors as they are unable to be rehomed. Floss is a beautiful black female cat with a white nose, chest and socks and is about three years old. Floss came from Rosyth Dockyard where she was living wild. Floss is very timid due to her harsh life on the streets, but now she is cosy and safe living indoors, although she does like to pop out for a breath of fresh air in the garden now and again!
FERAL CATS APPEAL: The Rowan Tree Shelter also has a number of feral cats who are suitable for adoption - visit their site at the link above for more details.

Donations
If you are a bit too broke to sponsor an animal on your own why not club together with some friends? Or you can send a donation (no matter how small!) to any of the Animal Aid organisations above, or to any of those listed on our Links page. |
