From a Visitor in Colorado
I have always had some s ort of connection with spirits and ghosts, whether that's a good thing or not I don't know. As a very young child I had frequently seen ghosts disappearing when I looked at them and sometimes they would advance toward me, but one night in particular they seemed especially out to bug me.
One night, as I was walking down the hallway into my room, I saw something on the floor. Looking down I noted that it looked like some sort of face. After a moment of staring I came to the conclusion that it was a bodiless head, staring at me with big googly eyes and its mouth open. I got completely freaked out and raced into the kitchen, where my mom and brother were cooking dinner. I told them that there was a skull in the hallway, and of course they didn't believe me. They came and looked and at first they could not see it. But when I pointed out its exact location and what it looked like to me, they both suddenly saw it and quickly my mom turned on the light. But it had gone. When she turned the light off again it was back, staring at us with its lifeless eyes. The three of us bolted from the hall and tried to forget about it. But that night as I was brushing my teeth I saw a shadow lurking over by the shower. I turned quickly to it but it vanished as I looked at it. !
At this point I was convinced that something was lurking around our house.
Later, when I was in bed, I finally mustered the courage to turn out the light, but immediately after I did I saw something moving by my stairs. My room is in a loft, so there is no door. I recognized the figure as the shadow I had seen earlier, and I turned on the light but it had gone just as quickly as it had come. Uneasily I tried to forget about it and eventually turned the light off again, peeking out from a small hole in my sheets toward the stairs. A few minutes passed where nothing happened but then I heard a creak and it was apparent that something was coming up my stairs. It walked slowly, almost as if it was being held back by something and was struggling to walk forward. As it reached the top of the stairs I saw that it was black, so black that its silhouette stood out in the night. It was large and bulky with no apparent shape, but it appeared to have some sort of billowing cloak on. It advanced toward my bed and stood there silently for a moment. Then it went rigid and fell forward, on top of my chest. I felt very cold and for a moment I couldn't breathe. I have no idea what the spirit was trying to do but something must have caused it to retreat, for suddenly there was a violent jolt, and then I heard a scream and saw the shadow vanishing into the air.
For the next few nights I was on the lookout for the skull or the spirit, but I saw neither. Until one night when I went to my dad's house for the weekend. I was wary that the ghost might have followed me, and in my panic I wrote a sign stating for it to go away and posted it on my bedroom door. That night as I was drifting off to sleep I noticed that my door was open, so I got up and closed it. The door is very close to the carpet and is rather hard to close as well as to open. When I was back in bed I looked toward the door and noticed it was wide open. As I got up to close it again I saw the shadow, the same one that had been at my mom's house. It looked at me a moment before disappearing.
I never saw it again, but I sure got the heebie-jeebies from it while it lasted.

There has been several occasions in my life that I have encountered "something". The first one I vividly remember is quite shocking. I was working at a restaurant/motel (which I will leave un-named) in Massachusetts as a housekeeper. I would always start my days in the restaurant. I'd be the only one there early in the morning so I had to lock myself in. My normal routine was simple. I went into the main dining areas bathroom, put my hair up, and getting ready to start the restaurant chores. I'd begin in the basement doing laundry, then the whole restraint. Then I would move out into the motel rooms. Well one morning I had to go in unusually early because I had an early class. Began my normal routine. The only thing I did different this time was close the bathroom door half way as I was putting up my hair. For a brief moment I got very cold. I went to open the door and it slammed shut. The doorknob wouldn't latch so I could not get out. I began to panic and started yelling hoping one of the tenants from the motel would hear me, but that wouldn't have done well anyways because I locked the back door behind me. About after 10 minutes the light went out, and did not go back on even after I flicked the switch up and down. I became so scared I almost passed out. I was stuck in that bathroom for about an hour. I thought I had heard something outside the bathroom door and I started banging on it for who or whatever it was to let me out. I stepped back from the door and sat on the floor. The light switched on, and the door swung open, leaving a hole in the tile wall behind the knob. So there was no way it was a draft, or the hinges malfunctioning. As I stepped out of the bathroom, I looked over to my left through the middle dining area. I saw a faint human form, kind of misty fade just before it got to a wall. I walked slowly to the bar area, not so scared anymore, because there was an unusual but VERY familiar scent left behind. The scent was of "Old Spice" cologne and cigarettes.

When we first moved in we were told that a woman died in our home we didn't find out until later that she was haunting our home. It started when we were playing with the spirit board and it told us that we have money hidden in our home were the woman died (in the attic). She said she likes me and I was in bed but my mom, dad, sister, brother was playing with the spirit board. Sometimes she would come in my dreams and tell me were the money is and we would look and nothing was there. We would hear noises from anywhere in the house (the noises where coming from the up stairs). Then while my dad was gone, he left to go golfing for a week and my mom and aunt saw something down stairs that looked like cool aid or blood and it was on the walls on the way down stairs. My mom thought that my cousin and me put it on the walls but her and me didn't go down stairs. The stuff that looked like blood wasn't but just a little bit. When my mom wanted to clean it off and it was gone. Then our TV in the front room started losing it color we don't know if it was her or it was just losing it color. Also the sink down stair broke and we had to get it fixed. Then one day my mom and me were sitting in the front room and all the sudden our VCR came on and record. We didn't mess with it in years and it just comes on. A tape of my sister, brother, and my birthday were on it. I thought that it taped over it but it didn't thank god that we didn't rewind it. So far this all that happened.

It was 15 years ago. I was a young adult with a drug problem. Over and over I tried to stay away from drugs and clean up. I had not been aware of ghostly activity while intoxicated. On speed, all I perceived was myself. It was only after I had detoxed that the ghostly footsteps would commence.
Keeping me awake, they would pace in anxious circles on the wood floor. Stopping in front of me from time to time, I could almost feel his face inches from mine! Once I saw his tall lanky silhouette at the window. I must not panic, I thought. After all, is it any surprise one's mind would play tricks on them after what I had been doing? Even if the place was haunted, I was leaving soon. I was planning to move. I assumed ghosts stayed at their location. T Two years later, still using off and on, I put on my best dress and met my father in the lobby where he worked for lunch. He was introducing me to some coworkers. Then, a man named Jim walked in. When he shook my hand I felt a ball of heat. Later that day, Dad called and said Jim needed to tell me something. I seemed that Jim was a psychic healer. He said " Are you aware that you have a parasitic entity? A tall shadow was standing next to you in the lobby, but when I looked, it tried to hide behind your skirt! They attach themselves to addicts and alcoholics. They hang around places where the living uses their drug of choice. Having no physical body, they can no longer get high, so they get high by proxy. They cannot get inside you but they can sort of merge with your aura. People should never have more than two drinks or get too intoxicated. It fractures the aura and that is how they get in. I saw more than one piece in your aura shattered." That night as I got undressed, I realized I was never alone. Angrily I said "cant I even have one minute of privacy?" "NO WAY" came in to my thoughts with a leer. It wasn't my thought. That did it! "You like my lifestyle? You could go anywhere! What do you want with me? I never have any fun! All I do is work! After two jobs (one to pay the bills, one for the dope) I'm too tired for recreation, socializing, and a sex life. You like this sink full of dishes? What a moron! And guess what! I'll be one no more! If cleaning up is what it takes to get rid of you, than watch me!" "Sure, how many times have you tried that" he smirked. His dialogue wasn't audible. But it was clear as a bell in my mind and!
I finally knew I wasn't nuts.
I moved into a three month live in drug rehab. One girl disliked me from day one. After two weeks, she took me aside and apologized for her hostility. She explained that she could see this black thing follow me everywhere and having been raised fundamentalist, assumed it was demonic. She thought I was some kind of devil worshiper. But, she said, it was gone now so we could be friends. The next morning, pretty young thing in our dorm went AWOL (absent without leave) before dawn.
Years later my boyfriend and I were hired to clean up a house that the bank had foreclosed on so that it could be put on the market. An empty house with nothing to dust, other than the windows and two bathrooms it seemed like easy money. They were putting a new kitchen floor in, new stove and hired a carpet cleaner. As we pulled up and parked I could feel someone watching from the windows. It felt sinister. "This place is haunted" Sean said. "I know". I said. Stepping inside we felt the hostility. "Just pay no attention", he said.
One of the perks of this job was that no one lived there and I could do it at my convenience, even at night. That's why I brought Sean. Soon he and I were doing the same window, I cleaned the inside facing the backyard, he was outside facing me. Suddenly I heard a sound coming from the other end of a long hall. Sean couldn't have heard it. Here it comes, I thought. It sounded like fingernails being dragged down the wall, the sound getting louder as it came closer. I turned toward the sound waiting. Out of the hall it floated and into the living room, a black shape. It was the blackest black I've ever seen. I had the feeling that if I put my arm into it, my arm would disappear. The top of it had a hooded shape. It vaguely was shaped like a man along with torso down to knees with no feet. It was showing off. It floated past me then disappeared into a wall. How powerful is that! Appearing visually and audibly! I turned to Sean and said, "Did you see that?" "Just ignore it, " he said. "But did you SEE it?" "It's trying to scare you. Don't give it the satisfaction" I never found out if he saw what I saw or just saw me freeze and my jaw drop open. With ghost sightings the most important thing besides the ghost itself, becomes did they see it too? "I'm not afraid of it. After all, why should I be? It's not physical. It can't touch me, can't actually hurt me. But did you SEE it!" "Just shut up and lets get to work," he said. But I couldn't concentrate. I kept looking around. Listen, I said. I'll feel more comfortable coming back here in the sunshine of tomorrow morning. How about keeping me company while I clean one bathroom then we'll pack it up? With Sean sitting on the sink while I scrubbed the tub I didn't have to watch my back. I didn't know why I felt such dread. This was not my first paranormal experience. I do E.V.P. I'd seen a ghost of a sweet looking harmless little old lady, probably somebody's grandmother.
At the cemetery in Westwood where Marilyn Monroe, Natalie wood as well as many famous people, I kept seeing a fluttering out of the corner of my eye. When I'd look I'd see nothing. So, while walking, I wheeled around in a flash I saw him. A shadow in the shape of a man duck behind a tree. Of course there was nothing there when I checked. On the E.V.P. playback, you can hear a man's derisive laughter when I mentioned how sad it was that one girl there had died so young.
In the housecleaning episode, Sean said he found a mountain of empty vodka bottles in the garage.
Has anyone there have an opinion on shadow people being connected with vices? Has anyone else had experience with or heard of parasitic entities?

One night in November I was driving home from my aunt Becky's house. I was listing to local hauntings. But I thought ghosts are not real. I was so sure I was not really worried like allot of people. I'm not Christian either. But I live in an old, freaky house. I was ready to watch TV in bed. That is when hell struck my house and me. I brought my dog in bed. I shut the lights off and then
I heard in slowly loud footsteps coming up stairs.
I have know door knob so I thought I was smart enough to put a heavy box by my door, 5 min. latter my dog and I lay in bed. I am afraid but I look at my door and then it slowly opens so I shut it again and all I know is that morning I noticed my room was a pigs place it had every thing on the floor! I was soon convinced I had a spirit or a freaking ghost somewhere in my home.
Thank you for having me share my ghost story with you!

A very, very long time ago, I think I must of been about 9 or 10, My family lived in an old farm house, until that time my sister and I had always slept in the same room down stairs. Because of a new sibling we were told we were moving upstairs to share a bigger room. That lasted about two or three years. Then I wanted to be on my own.
But, during the first few months of being upstairs, I noticed a lot more noise during the night, whether it was music, or just hushed voices (not my parents), maybe a shade in another room all of a sudden going up, or the sound of something dropping. I was always the one to investigate, I never found any evidence, the sound and noises continued, I was like they wanted me to open the other four doors (my parents always kept them closed). And on those mornings I would always look inside, sadly nothing ever changed. But I knew there was someone or something upstairs (I don't think anybody really believes me, even today).
The day I noticed anything was the day I grew up an enough and the parents gave me a room of my own.
The room was mine. It was great. And that night my friends left me. In many ways I was very sad. I woke everyone in the house, to tell them or to let me outside so I could see where they might of gone, I was told to go back to bed.
I have thought about the event enough over the years, and my evaluation: that it was there room and when I moved in, they left.
I was so calm and relaxed the night they left, there had been enough activity from them so I was awake, Then I saw three beautifully dressed women just walk past my bedroom, just a little nod towards me, not really a wave goodbye, but I knew they were gone, and miss the them the hunt and the goodbye.

When I was 11 I was just about to leave primary school and go to high school so in my primary school w went for a school holiday in Biblins in Wales it was really good until it became dark at night. So one night I woke up on my own to see s black cat sitting on the end of my friends bed so I woke my other friend up and screamed but as soon as she woke up it had disappeared. But the next day I tried to forget about it but there was something about that cat that scared me. That night I was so scared but luckily I slept through the night but my other friend woke up and saw it as well in the same place and I hadn't told her about what happened with me that night but then the next few nights where ok until one day I was looking out the window to see a young girl jump of a cliff I screamed and wanted to go get her out side but I wasn't aloud I cried so much I wanted to go home I can still remember it and what she was wearing I will never ever forget that moment I just wish I could had been able to save her but when I looked on the floor she wasn't there. I hope people believe me I never really speak about that girl because I feel I could have saved her but really she was a ghost.

From a visitor in Florida
At 16 living in Ohio, my family and I were going to Michigan to visit my Aunts family; we had to leave late because my dad worked the late shift. My aunt lived out in the country on a farm, no streetlights. We were on a very black double lane highway when up in front of us coming in the other direction we saw a truck stopped and then we realized a train was coming. The gates came down with us on one side and the Truck on the other side. We waited for the train to go past and noticed the truck driver waving at us.
My dad pulled up to the driver and asked if everything was ok. The man said yes but why were we stopped. My dad said because of the train. The man said yeah me too, I thought it was a train but if you look down you will see no tracks. Well that scarred the bejeebers out of us. The truck driver had no explanation and said he traveled this road quite frequently and that was the first time it had ever happened. My dad had no explanation either.
We made many more trips over the next few years and always stopped at that same spot just to see if we might see it again. Sure made the hair stand up on our heads.
