Strategy tips
Take a 3, 4, or 7 day cruise and blow the lights out of your enemies base. Back up your cruisers with destroyers so they can do the dirty work. Use the cruisers to take out your enemy's base. Oh yeah, you better take the seven day cruise because, cruisers take forever to get to their destination.
THE BAY OF DEATH
Play on the map Marooned 2. Once the game has started, check what corner you are in. If you are in the upper right or left, your enemy is probably in the opposite corner. If your enemy is in one of the lower corners, deploy your base on the opposite side of the bay they are by. The bay is in the lower center of the map. Start pumping out cruisers from the naval yard you put in the bay. The cruisers are already in range of hitting the enemy's base the second they come out!
MCV CHRONOSHIFT
Use the chronosphere on an MCV and put it next to your opponent's base. Have a barracks ready to place and a Tanya on hold at 99%. Deploy the MCV. Deploy your barracks. Then make the barracks your primary building and finish your Tanya. This also can be used with turrets, tanks, or anything you desire.
BIG MIG ATTACK
Build a bunch of Migs right away and bring in six or more to attack a building. They will take out the building and return to base. Note: Although this is a very effective technique, you can also dig yourself a grave fast if your opponent has built any defense against planes. Only do this if your opponent's base is unguarded.
CAPE CANAVERAL
Distract your enemy by sending in lots of tanks on one side of his base. While the tanks are distracting him, send in six or seven v2 rocket launchers and launch some rockets at the structure of your choice.
WALL OF ARMORED VEHICLES
Find the location of your enemy and arrange heavy tanks or mammoth tanks in line with their turrets facing the enemy, using about 7 or 8 tanks. Place two or three v2's behind the tanks one square, creating a wall of armored vehicles. Any approaching enemy vehicles will automatically be wiped out as the tanks will automically turn themselves to fire. This method can also be used to protect a piece of land with ore from the opponent.
Red Alert Cheats
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Grouping together sets of units makes a large attack easier to accomplish. Group units together by highlighting them, then hit Ctrl+1(any number) and then hit that number any time to highlight those units.
* Type in XPEINA518 when the game is loading and this will start you off with 20 medium tanks.
* Type 5555555 to repair all of your units to full health. (Note: This will only work if you have a medic. ONLY for Windows 95!)
* First, select a tank that is lethally damaged. Then, place it on the service depot. Then, when you hear the word 'repairing' immediately get it out. When it's out get it in again. It will repair 10 times as fast and will not cost as much... Also, you have to get it out again when it's repaired or you will be paying as if you didn't cheat.
* To find mines around your base, take a building that you are going to build, move the white grid all around your base area. If the area turns red for no particular reason, you know you have a mine there.
* Open REDALERT.MIX in the game folder using wordpad or a text editor that could open a file this big. Search for "rules.ini". Once you located it highlight all the way down until you find the developers names. Copy the selection and then paste it into a new file called "Rules.ini". Now you could edit all the attributes of the game. (WARNING: Unless you know what you're doing DON'T try this.)
* Build a transport and a cruiser, group them together using Ctrl+1(any number). Now, the cruiser moves at transport speed.
* Take a grenadier and tell it to throw a grenade. Right when he's about to throw it, move as fast as you can far away and press control and have the grenade hit somewhere up to five screens away.
