It"s Not You, It's Me

It's nice to know I'm loved
It's nice to feel accepted
If only by one
But you can't get too close to me
It's not you
It's me
I could never be your serenity or release
I could never do that,
The sacrafices I would cause you to make
Put you through it,
The pent-up aggression
The confusion
The depression
You don't deserve it,
The Pain
The agony
The torment
I would cause you
It's nothing new to me
I deal with it everyday
It's my life
But to bring you into it
Would mean for you to be cast into the middle of it all
Thrust into my harsh reality
My daily woes and sorrows
You don't deserve to be punished
You've committed no crime
No matter how much I might desire it
No relationship may we have
It's not fair to you
I hope you understand
It's not you
It't me
I love you

The Web of Life

A spider's web
Composed of simple,
delicate strands of silver silk
Woven together with care and time
You,
The center of your own being
Trapping and pulling
Both friend and foe into your web
Then betraying them
And sucking them dry of love
Small storms leave tattered pieces of your web dangling
Finally
Your web is blown away by the ever powerful wind
The entanglement that had once been life
Is no more.

Freedom With Fine Print

You told us we had the freedom of speech
But now we are censored
You told us we were free to act to express ourselves
But only if it does't offend anyone
You told us we had the freedom to dress as we saw fit
But now it has to fit the code
You told us we had to freedom of religion
But now we are completely deprived of it in our schools
When you generously gave us these freedoms,
You failed to mention the fine print.

How Could You Do This To Me?

How could you give me a reality of love and compassion one day
Just to completely demolish it the next
And replace it with a reality of hatred and betrayal
You were my pillar of strength
And now you are the force knocking me down
You couldn't stand time away from me
And now you never leave her side
What did I do to deserve this
You said you would never let me go
But now my rope has been cut
And when I look back
You are the only one holding a knife.
