"Mandy!" My best friend, Julia, yelled. "Where have you been?" "Sorry," I said. Words were never my sort of thing! Julia put her hands on her hips. "That's all the famous write can say, huh?" I giggled. I did write lots of stories, poems, articles- you name it. "Well it's not my fault that I had an inspiration and had to write it down before coming here," I said, sitting down on her inflatable chair. Today was Friday, which meant going over Julia's house. First would be going to the mall, and maybe a movie, and then picking up the lastest issues of magazines. "Ready to go?" Julia asked, putting her brand new blue jacket on. "Yea sure," I said, getting up. We took the bus to the Cartury Mall. Also as usual, we went to our fave store first: Forever C.E.S. World. I bought a new shirt, but there wasn't anything that I really liked. Getting out of the store, Julia and I were almost trampled by all the people at the mall. It was unusally crowded. "Let's just get home," Julia said, almost shouting. I nodded. "We can go see a movie." We struggled past all the people to the busstop. "What's playing anyway?" I asked Julia as we walked onto the bus. "I have no clue," she answered. "But there must be a newspaper somewhere." "That guy over there has one," I whispered. "Oh, good," Julia said, walking over to him. "Can we borrow that for a sec?" I stinfined a giggle. Julia always acted as if everyone was her friend, even though she didn't know them. "Sure," the guy said, handing it over. "Thanks," Julia said, and walked back over to our seats. "Hmmm, let's see," she said, flipping through the pages. "There's 'Roadertown.'" "Too boring," I said. "What about 'Dark Night 3'?" "If you seen one you've seen all," I answered, sighing. "'Ghosts Are Here' sounds good," Julia said, getting annoyed by my reactions. I shook my head. "Too weird." "'BOMB' is nice." I giggled. "If you like sycho movies like that." Julia looked at me, irriatated. "Do you want to go just pick up some mags ans watch televiosion all night?" "Sure!" I said. Julia raised her eyebrows. "I'm starting to think that you don't like our traditional Fridays afterall." I just laughed. We soon arrived at the small convience store near Julia's house where we always got 'zines. We walked in and got the usual: T.E.E.N., Stars and More, SMASH, :):):), Access to Your Stars, and COOL 4 U. We rushed back home, eager to see the new issues since the rest of the night had been a total blowout. "Hey, check this out, Mandy," Julia said, handing me the copy of T.E.E.N. "What?" I asked. "There is a story contest," she said. "YOu should enter." I shook my head. "I don't know. I probably won't even win!" Julia laughed. "Mandy! You are lke the best write I know!" I took the magazine article from her and started to read it out loud. "'Unlimited Story Contest brought to you by T.E.E.N. To enter, send in a story on any subject with your name, addrrss, age, and phone number. The grand prize is a trip to Paris for four.' It sounds cool, but Julia, do you know how many epople will enter?" She rolled her eyes impatiently. "Mandy, for gods sake, just enter one of your marvoulous stories in and we'll be all set." I grinned. "Okay, I'll write a story for it."
THE NEXT DAY......
I went outside on the wooden deck behind my house to think. I really needed a good story for this contest, and I didn't seem to have any ideas. My mother suggested that I use one of my stories I already wrote, but I really wanted to make a new one. I took out a pad of paper and started writing ideas for stories.
1. a friend fight
2. mystery
3. aleins or something weird like that
I sat there for an hour, but nothing came to mind except for those three boring things! "Mandy!" my sister yelled from inside the house. "Phone is for you! I think it's Julia!" I ran inside and picked up the phone in the hallway. "Thanks, Michelle!" I yelled. "You can hang up now!" I then retured back to the phone. "Hello?" "Mandy, you gotta come over right now!" Julia practically yelled. "Why right at this second?" I asked, puzzled. "If you give me and hour I could-" "No, it's important!" Julia insisted. "Fine, hold up, I'll be there in a couple of minutes," I said, and hung up the phone. "Mom, I'm going over to Julia's a for a while," I said, grabbing my jacket. "Alright," my mom said. "Be back soon though, okay?" I nodded. "Yea sure, bye." I rushed out the door, wondering why Julia wanted me to come over so quick and soon. I knocked on her front door when I got there. "Finally!" Julia said once she opened the door. I stepped inside. "Okay, what is so important?" Julia giggled. "Come on!" she said, pulling me into her room running. She opened the door to her room. "Ta da!" she said, and led me inside her room. I looked at the bed. On top was a laptop computer. "What's this for?" I asked, a little confused. "You don't own one. Did you just buy it or somethin'?" Julia laughed. "Mandy. silly, this is for you to borrow! My dad brought it home from work when I asked if I could borrow it. Sooo, you can use it to write your story, whenever you have an inspiration!" "Oh, this is so cool!" I exploded. "Thank you soooooooooo much, Julia! You are like the best!" Julia smiled. "That's what friends are for. Come on, my dad can drive you home with it so you can start typing right away." I nodded. "Thanks, Julia, again." "You are so welcome," she answered, and handed me the laptop. We ran downstairs to find her father, who was sitting in his study. "Dad, can you drive Mandy home?" "Yea sure," he answered. "Go get in the car." At soon as I got home, I rushed up to my room with the laptop. But when I turned it on, I relized that I hadn't gotten any inspirations or good ideas for a story even. Sighing, I decided just to start typing and see where it led me. After a couple of hours, I gave up and collasped onto my bed. My mom then came in. "Any luck with that story?" she asked. I shook my head. "Why don't you sleep on it?" she suggested. I clicked the laptop off. "Good idea."
THE NEXT MORNING....
"I got it!" I practically shouted. I got out of bed and turned the laptop on. I quickly got into a typing program on it. I hardly ever remember my dreams, but this time I had remembered my dream, and it was inspiring! Inspiring enough to write a story!!!!
In the end:
Mandy wrote the story called: Midnight Wolf. You can read that story on this webpage, found at the table of contents.
Mansy won the story contest, and had a wonderful time in Paris.
The End

"Hi, mom," I said, huggin her. "How was the trip?" she asked, taking my bag. "It was awesome!" I exclaimed. "Totally amazing," Julia added. Hi, it's me, Mandy here again. Since I had won that trip to Paris, I decided to take Julia. (The onther two tickets were given to my mom's friend.) Since my mom didn't want us to stay in Paris alone, we met Julia's cousins there and stayed with them. "I'm so glad you guys had a good time," my mom continued. "In fact, as a homecoming present, I have a surprise." "Really? Julia asked. "What is it?" My mom smiled. "IT's a surprise. But first, we need to go get Julia's family." After all that, we took a bus to a lake that was very familar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. "Where are we going?" I asked my mom. She smiled. "To an amusement park called: A.P. across the lake. You're gonna love this!" Hmmmmm, I thought, somehow I'm getting dashavu, but I have never even been here! "Uh, how are we getting there?" I asked, for no particular reason. "By boat of course," Julia's dad answered. "Oh, okay," I said absently. our parents gave the tickets and we walked on board the ship. This all was too familar. "Hey ma?" I called. "Yes, Mandy?" she replied, geting out the key for our cabin. "What is this lake called anyway?" I asked. "Midnight Wolf Lake," she answered, to my complete shock. "Why do you ask?" "J-just seemed familar that's all," I stammered. I reached for the wall to keep from falling. How could this be??? Midnight Wolf Lake was in my story! And if this was like my story, there was bound to be a Midnight Wolf someplace! "Come on, Janet," I heard someobdy say behind me. No, I thought, it couldn't be Claudia. I slowly turned around. But it was. There in the flesh, was Claudia, Daina, Janet, Katherine, and Elizabeth. If I was to stay here, I would ge a goner...for sure.
