A parody on "Wasn't that a Party" by the Rovers (formerly the Irish Rovers)
(Do not be drunk with wine
but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5: 18)
(C) Could a been the sermon, mighta been the prayer
Could a been the three or four hymns oh I don't know
but (C7) I'm walking on the air.
My heart is over- (F) flowing, I'm never gonna (C) die.
Tell me, (G7) me o me o my, wasn't that a (C) service.
Some one took a hymn book, hollered out a song.
I saw some one standing up by the altar. singing in a voice so strong.
And before you knew it, everybody sang along.
Long about then,.I hear the church bell bong,
Wasn't that a service.
The preacher stirred a (F) memory, of God's love for (C) me.
Went he (D7) said how Jesus love me, so he died there on that (G7) tree.
Could a been the sermon, mighta been the prayer
Could a been the three or four hymns oh I don't know
but I'm walking on the air.
My heart is overflowing, I'm never gonna die.
Tell me, me o me o my, wasn't that a service.
And just before he finished, I hear the preacher say
Jesus went up to his Father, but he's coming back some day.
So you see your reverence, it was lots of fun
I going to go and share His love on main street just as fast as my feet can run.
But well be again, yea for another round of praise.
See you here in seven days.
Wasn't that a service.
