| Cutting (self mutilation) by John Crable This dilemma is a huge problem for today's teens! While visiting Yahoo's Answers pages I came across thousands of posts on this one single problem! This problem is not new, it is ancient! While most would deem this psychotic in nature, it really stems from something much deeper! In a passage in the Book of Mark and the fifth chapter we come to the man of the tombs. Jesus was going to free him from what we now understand as demonic oppression! Let us take a brief look at his condition before Christ meets him! And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. (Mark 5:5)(Notice: Of any number of ways the bible could have described this man, God chose to tell us this man cut himself with stones as it was a condition of his torment and affliction!) And when Jesus showed up, the man met him: And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, (Mark 5:2) And Jesus said to him: For he said unto him, Come out of the man, [thou] unclean spirit. And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many. (Mark 5:8-9) After Jesus cast out the demon the man was free and wanted to follow Christ: Jesus said to him: Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
