News item from Mcleansboro Times Leader to celebrate the 99th birthday
of Iron Russell.... "He was a preacher, lawyer and farmer, taught
school for a short time as a youn man." "How did he come by his name
Iron, which is a bit unusual? Well, a woman helping at his parents
home when he was born wanted him named Aron. His mother didn't take a
fancy to the name and changed it to "Iron" after the woman left." His
death certificate shows Iron W. Russell.
