1860 Hamilton County, IL Census
South Twigg Township page 16 Household 103
Rachel is head of household with children.

Rachel is the first cousin of Mary Smith Lusk. Rachel and Mary married
brothers. John H. and William McGill.

On October 21, 1831, Bell Lusk applied for the pension of Robert Lusk
for his service in the Revolutionary War.
To the Honorable Members of the Senate and House of Representatives of
South Carolina
The Petition of the undersigned Bell Lusk respectfully shows that she
is the widow of Robert Lusk formally of Abbeville, late of Pendleton
District that she is now in old age and _____ circumstances having
attained seventy years and her family of children with the exception
of a single daughter having left her a schedule of her property with
its probable value which does not exceed in all Fifty nine dollars and
twenty five cents as hereunto appended. In consideration of the
service of her deceased husband during the War of the Revolution he
having rendered active service from time to time throughout the
struggle and the cause of American Independence principally under the
commands of Capt. William Strain, Captain Joseph Pickens and Captain
Andrew Pickens, afterward Colonel and General Pickens and in
consideration of his own ______ condition She respectfully solicits
the assistance of her country.
Bele Lusk makes oath that the facts of the foregoing petitions are
true to the best of her knowledge.
Sworn to before me October 21, 1831
Archibald Simpson, J. P. Bell (x) Lusk
Andrew Young and William McCurdy appeared on the behalf of Bell and
testified that had knowledge of Robert Lusk's service in the
Revolutionary War.
The report of the committee on pensions on the petition of Bell Lusk
shows that her petition was rejected on December 3, 1831. In looking
back, it may have been due to the fact that on November 26, (can't
read, may be 1785) "I do hereby authorize and empower William Adams to
draw and receive my Indent or Indents, being for monies due to me for
services or other wages done to the publick (?) if this state,
according to the return made by Col. Robt. Anderson into the Auditors
Office." This was signed by Robert Loosk. (Did he sign away any
rights to get money later on?)
