| Civil War Reenacting |
 |
| You might ask "What is Reenacting?" Civil War Reenacting is a very popular hobby in which Men and Women attempt to recreate Civil War period life for both helping educate the public and for their own enjoyment. We eat, sleep, work, and do our best to look like the person/people we are portraying may it be a private in the infantry to a general or famous politician. Reenactors often fight mock battles or set up encampments to let the public see and experience period life. They sleep in tents and learn the drills and roles of soldiers or citizens. This is a very exciting hobby for anyone intersted in the civil war. Although it can be rather expensive [up to $1,500 to purchase the neccessary equipment] it is still one of Americas fastest growning pastimes. There are many good books out on the subject; I reccomend "Reliving the Civil War: A reenactors handbook" by R. Lee Hadden which can be purchased from Amazon.com |
