| General Robert E. Lee |
U.S. Grant |
| General Robert E. Lee became the south's best general. Originally one of Jefferson Davis' aides he became commander of The Army of Northern Virginia in 1862. He was a master tactician and won many stunning victories until the norths superiour manpower took it's toll. |
Unlike General Lee, General Grant was often seen un-shaven and displayed poor manners but he knew how to get the job done. He was also one of the few high ranking generals who came from a poor background. He won the respect of President Lincoln after taking Vicksburg in 1863 and soon was given command of all Union armies. He used his superiour numbers and weapons against the rebels in a war of attrition in which the south could not win. |
| Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson |
William Tecumseh Sherman |

His Valley Campaign was a huge sucess even though he had only a small force he managed to defeat much larger Union armies. After his greatest feat;his flank attack at Chancellorsville he was shot by one of his own picket's while scouting for a niht attack. He died a few days later in Richmond a great Confederate hero. |
William Tecumseh Sherman was one of Grant's best friends and most trusted subortinantes. Sherman is remembered for his "march to the sea" which devestated Georgia but took Atlanta and Savannha and assured victory for the Union. Sherman once said "War is hell" and lived by those words. |
