Christina nominated for two Grammy Awards
For the third year in a row, Christina has been nominated for a Grammy Award, receiving two recognitions in the same category, Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
'Lady Marmalade', the phenomenally successful single with Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink from 'Moulin Rouge - Music From Baz Luhrmann's Film' [Interscope Records] shares the category with 'Nobody Wants to Be Lonely', her international smash duet with Ricky Martin from Ricky's album, 'Sound Loaded' [Columbia Records Group].
The Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category is reserved for collaborative performances by artists who do not normally perform together - singles or tracks only.
'Moulin Rouge - Music From Baz Luhrmann's Film' was also nominated for Best Compilation for a Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media.
The nominees were announced on Friday, January 4 at a press conference at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., attended by many of nominees themselves, including Arie, Destiny's Child, David Foster, Nelly Furtado, Ja Rule, Jimmy Jam, Stevie Nicks, Jamie O'Neal, Carl Reiner, Pat Monahan of Train, and Usher. The 44th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast by the CBS Television Network at 8:00 pm (ET).
'Once again, this year's nominations reflect many different musical points of view - from those established artists whose influence has shaped the evolution of our musical language, to newcomers who speak with a unique resonance,' said Recording Academy President/CEO Michael Greene. 'We are gratified to see so many truly talented singer/songwriters; they remain a vital part of music's foundation.'
The 44th Annual GRAMMY Awards features 28 musical fields, ranging from pop and gospel to reggae and polka.
With this year's addition of the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category, there are now 101 categories.
Grammy nominations ballots for the next round of voting will be mailed Friday, January 11 to the 13,000 voting members of the Recording Academy.
In early February, the results are tabulated and kept in secret by the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP until they are revealed on the Grammy Awards telecast on Wednesday, February 27.
