20)Faze 4 - Nowhere
Yeah, I know it's a really sappy boy band, but at least it's #20. Right? And no, there won't be any more of these on my countdown much to your pleasure.

19)U2 - Beautiful Day
U2 will probably be around forever with songs like this coming out every album. Too bad lately there haven't been too many beautiful days otherwise this song would have went much higher.

18)Incubus - Drive
One of the top singles in the world in 2001. Unfortunately, this song is the "driving" force behind what I call the sellout band of the year. They should have stuck to the hard stuff.

17)Dashboard Confessional - The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most
The first of many Dashboard songs on the countdown. Get used to seeing lots of Dashboard on this list. And a huge thanks to those funky Burbank girls who took me to the House of Blues on July 26, 2001, so I could lay witness to them for the first time.

16)Josh Joplin Group - Camera One
This is one of those adult contempo songs played on "The Mix", but despite the station it's played on, it connected pretty well with me.

15)Evan and Jaron - Crazy For This Girl
The biggest inside joke song of 2001 for me. And no. I will not tell you what the joke is. If you know me well, get out and listen to this poppy/alternative song and see if you can relate it to my personal life within the first 30 seconds the song is played. Thanks to Dane Lando for introducing me to it.

14)Toad the Wet Sprocket - All I Want
Another one of those "The Mix" songs that connect well to me. I like to blast this one while I'm showering in the morning.....

13)The Starting Line - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
I know a couple of you out there are going "Who the fuck does kid think he is?", and I'm sorry, but I really genuinely like this song. Best cover ever. Those Burbank girls have good taste in music.....

12)New Found Glory - Dressed to Kill
More Burbank influence here, but unlike the girls, I don't obsess about having New Found Glory's children or being New Found Glory's roadies or anything like that. Call this one JT's "Intro to punk" song.

11)Matchbox 20 - If You're Gone
Matchbox's best song ever in my mind, and they've had some pretty damn good ones.

10)Dashboard Confessional - Screaming Infidelities (The Places You have Come to Fear the Most)
This was the song that made me a Dashboard/Chris Carrabba fan for life. With the crowd singing this song in unison, I knew I had to have all Dashboard cds in existence (which as of 1-22-02 is 4). This version gets the nod over the one on Swiss Army Romance due to this one being played on Kilbourn in great fashion putting the band on the map for good.

9)Fuel - Shimmer
The only band I know that can mix sappy, heart affecting lyrics with pure hard rock and do it very, very well. "Shimmer" put Fuel on the map way back in 1997.

8)The Juliana Theory - August in Bethany
"Pussy lyrics" as one Joe Leleika likes to call them (sappy, sad, "Don't go" type lyrics). And they are pretty much my favorite type of lyrics. No, I am not a woman.....

7)Dashboard Confessional - Shirts and Gloves
The first Dashboard song I downloaded. Also the saddest Dashboard song out there. It even brings a tear to Mr. Carrabba's eye allegedly.

6)Edwin McCain - I'll Be
One of the running themes in my songs of 2001 is sappy, friendship, "I wish I had a girlfriend", "pussy lyric"-filled songs (in other words, only songs that a woman would listen to). This is the ultimate evolution of a "woman" song. No, I am not a woman.

5)Lifehouse - Hanging by a Moment
The great thing about this song is 1)It's catchy. 2)Lifehouse sounds like Creed. and 3)Lifehouse is basically Creed singing about love! Too bad this is only a one-hit-wonder. And on a side note, this is Billboard's top single of 2001. Congrats Lifehouse.

4)Fuel - Hemorrage (In My Hands)
The best hardrock/heartbreak song in existence. Period.

3)Dashboard Confessional - Again I Go Unnoticed
The song that exemplifies the power of Chris Carrabba's voice. If this song doesn't mean anything to you when you listen to it then you must be fucking dead inside or something.

2)The Juliana Theory - The Closest Thing
The Juliana Theory would be a better band in my mind if only they made more "pussy lyric" songs like this one. As it stands, this is the best one of the 2 on their 1999 release. For your information, this is a song about a guy that likes this girl, but he's willing to be just her friend and wanting to be her close friend, and he thinks this girl is really wonderful and special... I DARE YOU TO READ INTO IT.....

1)Dashboard Confessional - For You to Notice
Off of their latest EP released in December 2001, immdiately when I heard it, it became one of my favortite songs of all time. The "pussiest" boy wants girl song ever released.
