Zelda: Ocarina of Time Game Secrets

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]
Graphics Gallery!

These are the secrets for Zelda 64 that I have found:

Great Fairy Fountains - There are six of these, three are magic spells you can use with "C" and the other three are power ups

1. The first one is on top of death mountain, there are two door ways on the top of the mountain, the one on the right takes you inside Death mountain Crater. Go to the front of the door way on the left and bomb it. (this gives you a cool sword spin attack)

2. There is another one just before you go into Zeldas Castle, there is a sign which says "dead end". Near this sign is a boulder, just bomb that boulder and enter the crawl space (this is a magic spell - it gives you dins fire)

3. The Next one is in Zoras Fountain just before you enter jabu jabus belly, as soon as you enter take a right and swim to past the fallen log and to an area with about 2 trees, you should see a boulder which you can bomb, enter through here (This gives you farores wind - warp magic that you can use to warp between two points, use it with "C")

4. After you become an adult you can take the darunias room route to death mountain crater, turn left and you will see a silver boulder so use your megaton hammer and get it out of the way and enter through the door way (this doubles your magic meter)

5. Later on in the game when you get into the desert colossous go west and look around, you should see two plam trees against a wall and a little crack in between them, just bomb this crack and go through (you will get the best spell here, nayrus love - it surrounds you with a blue shield which will make you invincible for a while, it is good to use in the ganon and ganondorf battle)

6. At the end of the game when you get the golden gauntlets, turn right when you enter ganons castle and go right go to the masive stone shaped structure with a moon and a star on it and grab it, now walk through (you will get a heart power up, your energy bar is doubled)

Fairy Fountains - Scattered across Hyrule in one place or another are hidden fairy fountains. Use these to fill your energy or keep some for later. If you die and have a fairy in a bottle you will be completely revived without getting a Game Over.

1.In Gerudo Fortress there are a row of four crates in the front. Play The Song of Storms in front of these to uncover the Fairy Fountain. 2.At the Desert Colossus there is a dried up oasis. On the elevated rock nearby play the Song of Storms in order to fill the oasis. A bunch of Fairies will appear. I guess this is a Fairy Fountain. 3.Near the Goron's City on Death Mountain Trail is a place to bomb the wall. There is a Fairy Fountain inside. 4.In Zora's River there is an elevated cliff with a circle of stones, I can't remember now, but I think there was a rock there. Get rid of the rock to reveal a Fairy Fountain. You can access this as Young and Adult Link. To get to the ledge that leads to the cliff as a kid use the Cucco. As Adult Link, just walk up and climb onto the ledge that leads to the ladder. 5.In Zora's Domain there is an island in the water/ice right near the entrance. On the island play the Song of Storms to reveal a hidden chamber. Inside you will find a Fairy Fountain. 6.There is a Fairy Fountain in an area with trees in the Northwest portion of Hyrule Field.

Big Faries - Now when I say Big Faries I don't mean the ones that give you the three spells and three enhancements but rather larger versions of the kind of faries you put in the bottle. These faries fill your magic and life completely.

1.In Hyrule Field, Zora's River Branches off you will find that it goes to a dead end. You will also notice that Navi will turn green on a spot in the water. Stand in that spot and play the Song of Storms. An animation like a big chest will occur and a Big Fairy will appear. 2.In Hyrule Field, just before Lake Hylia there is that square of fence. Bomb here to find the hidden chamber underneath. Inside you will find dirty pools of water. Navi will turn green near one. Play the Song of Storms to uncover the Big Fairy. 3.Inside of the Gerudo Training Ground, just past the entrance, Navi will turn green on the floor. Play the Song of Storms in this spot to make a Big Fairy appear. 4.Inside of the Gerudo's Fortress there is a room where a pot is boiling over a fire. Stand in front of a mask on the wall and play the Song of the Sun. A big Fairy will appear. 5.If you enter the Royal Family Tomb in the Graveyard (the place where you got the Song of the Sun) Navi will turn green near a skull. Play the Song of the Sun and a Big Fairy will appear. 6.In the Lost woods you will encounter a pond with a warp to Zora's River under the water. At the edge of the pond play the Song of Storms to make a Big Fairy appear. 7.In the Shadow Temple there is a Ledge where you fight a Staffos in a room with guillatines in it. Play the Song of Storms and a Big Fairy will appear in the center of the platform. 8.The same island/pedistal where you get the Fire Arrow there is a spot where you play the Song of the Sun to make a Big Fairy Appear. 9.

Deku Scrub Salesman - These are guys that sell you something, usually a green or red potion. Sometimes though they sell you Deku Nuts or Deku Sticks. I have a couple of these listed in the Walkthrough, but the following will become a listing of all of them.

1.Behind the Carpenter's Tent in Gerudo Valley as adult Link. Play the Song of Storms to open the secret chamber. Inside you will find two Deku Scrubs that sell you a green or red potion for 40 rupees. (These sure did come down in price since Link to the Past) 2.At the Desert Colossus, if you lift a rock near a circle of stones you will reveal a secret chamber with two more of these guys selling potions inside. 3.In Death Mountain Crater, just near the broken bridge there is a rock, break it to reveal a chamber with Deku Scrubs. One will sell you Bombs for 40 rupees, another will sell you 30 arrows for 70 rupees, and the other one will sell you 5 Deku Nuts for 20 rupees. 4.As soon as you enter Zora's River you will encounter a circle of stones. Play the Song of Storms in order to reveal the secret chamber. You will find two Deku Scrubs. One will sell you a red potion for 40 rupees, and the other will sell you a green potion for 40 rupees. 5.At Lake Hylia there is a single gravestone between the two bridges. Open the Gravestone to reveal three Deku Scrubs. One sells you bombs, One sells you arrows, and the other sells you Deku nuts.

Ganon's Castle Fill Up - Just under the door you first come out of in the main chamber that leads to all the Mini Medallion Dungeons there is an invisible doorway that leads to a room with fairies and a bunch of Deku Scrub Salesmen.

Lots 'o Rupees - Zelda: The Ocarina of Time has to be the most Rupee filled Zelda of them all. You find rupees just about everywhere; in bushes, pots, crates, trees, torches, under rocks, on ledges, underwater, in chests, etc. There are some big rupee cashes though that deserve an honorable mention as being a secret or hidden in some way.

1.Use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom just below Zora's Waterfall. (The one you play Zelda's Lulliby in front of) You will find several red rupees here. 2.At the top of the drawbridge in front of the market there are a few red rupees. 3.Inside Death Mountain Crater is a Platform all the way to the right from the entrance to the Fire Temple with many rupees on it. 4.There is a Gold Rupee in Goron City in the room with all the rocks in it at the very back and to the left. 5.There is a Gold Rupee in Kakariko Village in the clearing area past the tree in front of town. It is detectable with the Stone of Agony. Use bombs or the Megaton Hammer to find it. 6.There is a secret chamber below the Circle of stone in front of the Goron's City. Inside you will find a chest with a Gold Rupee inside. 7.Shoot the Blue Spiders in Lake Hylia with the Light Arrow and get a Purple 50 ct. rupee. 8.Infinite Rupees - Go Back to the Lost Woods as Adult Link, in the spot where the two skull kids made you play songs to get a Heart Contianer Piece. They will shoot blowguns at you and jump around the area until they disappear. If you kill them before they disappear they will leave behind a big pink-orange colored rupee. (I'm not sure how much it's worth since it just always fills my rupees to 500) You can repeat this as many times as you want. 9.In a grotto under a boulder on a ledge near Gerudo Valley you will find some rupees in the shape of an arrow that point to the northwest. Kind of odd. There's nothing on that wall. 10.Infinite Rupees - get all the gold skulltulas and keep returning to the House of Skulltula in Kakariko to get another Gold Rupee.

The Scarecrow's Song - Go to Lake Hylia and Play an eight note song in front of the scarecrow named Bonooru. He will memorize the tune. Go back to Lake Hylia in the future and play it for him again. Now anytime you play this song you will summon a Scarecrow. You can use the scarecrow to grapple to seemingly unreachable ledges. A good indication that there is a place to use this song is when you find a place Navi turns green and you exhaust every other possibility. This gives you access to the second donut shaped chamber in the Fire Temple. There's nothing too special up there, just a gold rupee. (I wonder if finding all the gold rupees has anything to do with something else, probably not, but you never know) There is one on the island near Jabu-Jabu. There's one on top of the Medicine Man's Laboratory in Lake Hylia. There is a spot at the Gerudo Fortress where he can be summoned. It's near the treasure chest that contained the Heart Container Piece.

The sinking lure - in the fishing pond there is a sinking lure which sinks to the bottom when you use it - i have found this many times -
the way to get it: after you catch a lunker leave the fishing pond and try to come in a ta good time (eg. just before day turns to night or just before night turns to day)
look around there are three places where it could be

1. in those three rocks where the stream begins

2. in those rocks near the three sticks

3. near the lilly pads

The Fisherman's Hat - If you cast at the fisherman you will catch his hat, and he will demand that it be returned. You will be charged if you do not comply.

Soft Patches of Earth - Scattered across Hyrule are patches where you can plant the Bean Selling Man's "Magic Beans" These will grow into a plant that can transport you to otherwise unreachable ledges or locations. The plant will only appear during Link's Adulthood. These are the locations.

1.Next to the bean selling man. 2.In the Lost Woods in the area near the "Forest Stage." 3.In front of Dodongo's Cavern. 4.Next to the Lakeside Laboratory. 5.In front of the Desert Collosus. 6.In the Graveyard near a wall to the left. 7.In the Kokiri Forest behind a house. 8.At the bottom of the ravine at the Gerudo Valley. 9.Inside Death Mountain Crater near the Triforce teleportation pedistal. 10.In the Lost Woods on the ledge across from the bridge you cross when you first enter/exit the Kokiri Forest.

Biggest Quiver - If you score 1500 pts at the Gerudo Horseback Archery Contest yo will get a quiver that holds 50 arrows.

Bigger Quiver - Play the Archery Game as Adult Link and get a perfect score to obtain this item.

Bigger Bomb Bag - As young Link play the bombchu Bowling Game and one of the items is a bigger bomb bag.

Biggest Bomb Bag - As young Link go to Goron City. Put a bomb in front of the rolling Goron in the area where it is dark near a sign that talks about him.

Death by Cuccos - As you may already know if you whack, burn, smash, sqush, or otherwise mame a cucco all his buddies will come after you and peck you to death until you are able to leave the area or enter a house. Now suppose you couldn't do that. In Kakariko whack a cucco as Adult Link until his kin come after you. Fall in the well. Get in the corner and will not be able to escape. You will be continuously pecked until you are dead. Talk about attack of the birds. There is a way out of this but I'm not going to tell you.

The Forest Stage - When I say forest stage I don't mean the Forest Temple, but rather a hidden cave with deku scrubs inside that give you things if you show them a beautiful face (Mask). To get to the area where the hidden cave is from the entrance of the Lost Woods first go right, then left, then right, left, and finally left. You will be in an area with Deku Scrubs who sell you sticks and nuts. There is also a bean planting spot in this area. Walk to the back near where the butterflies are and you will fall into a hidden cave that has a whole audience of deku scrubs. Put on one of the masks, any one, and they will turn into items, mostly rupees. If you put on the skull mask the big Flower Headed Scrub will give you the ability to carry more Deku Sticks. If they don't like your mask though you will be booed off the stage . We can now scratch the uselessness of the Gerudo, Zora, and Goron masks from the Unsolved Mystery list.

secrets of butterflies:

remember those yellow butterflies that fly around hyrule
well if you catch one of these ona deku stick it will turn in to a fairy !!!

End of Game secret:

when you beat ganondorf and u reach the final screen where it says "the end" wait for about five minutes and the scarecrow song will start playing in five different instruments (eg. guitar, flute)

Get Epona the horse:

First as a child go to the ranch. Find the little girl with the horses,
talk to her. She'll say something like "Isn't it a pretty song, my mother
taught it to me. Next take out your flute, or what ever it's called. The
girl will then teach you how to play the song. As an adult go back to the
ranch. Pay the 10 rupee charge to ride the horses. Once you enter, don't
get on a horse, play the song the girl taught you. The horse with the white
main will run toward you. Get on it and the walk over to Ingo and talk to
him. He'll ask you if you want to race, with a wager of 50 rupees. Except
his challenge. When you beat him the first time he'll want to race again,
except it again. When you beat him he will close the gate locking you in.
Just run toward the gate at full speed on the horse and you should jump
the fence. Now you have the horse all to yourself.

broken up signs:

go up to a square sign and slash it, it should fall to bits. Now just play "zeldas lullaby" and the sign will regenerate
