On Friday the 5th of May STEPSofficial.com jetted off to Glasgow to see the most anticipated landmark in the history of pop. The start of the biggest tour the world has ever seen. The night belonged to one band, the band they like to call - STEPS.
It's the year 2000 and the Steptacular tour by the popiest pop band in pop is the biggest event of the year. If you were hoping for anything as a good as the last tour, you can think again. This lavish pop extravaganza is a Step-zillion times bigger, bolder, brassier and better! The support acts came and went giving it their best to an overly excited capacity audience at the Glasgow SECC. then at precisely 9pm the whole arena fell dark, and the screams rose to an all time high. It was all about to begin and with it came a seemlingly unlimited number of surprises, twists and shocks - you will be stunned. It all starts off in a similar fashion, you're guessing what crevis of the arena the five shining poplets are going to emerge from. On their first tour they appeared from behind rotating doors, on the Next Step they casualy walked onto the stage after disguising themselves and walking through the aisles between the seats. You won't believe what happens this time!
When the curtain fell unveiling the most over the top and extraordinary display seen at any concert in the history of all concerts it was enough to set off all 10,000 people in an explosion of excitement and screams as everyone jumped to their feet. STEPS have really gone overboard to ensure this summer's live performances are the hottest things you guys will ever see. Or at least until you see the band in concert again at the Christmas leg of the world record breaking giant of a tour. The opening number proved to be just what was needed to get that atmosphere going, it was electrifying. Followed by a number of party friendly tracks to make everyone feel at home and to unleash a bit of that excitement!
The entire performance was extremely impressive and not what you would expect from the fab five, yet it maintained that ever so essential STEPS vibe. Notably the solos were absolutely astounding, using every trick in the book and a lot that weren't even thought about by the author of that book! Originality is the name of the game and the five band members have certainly packed the concert's with more originality than you could ever imagine. If anyone isn't dancing along it will be a huge surprise as it's the most dance-tastic, disco loving event seen since the band's last tour. But it's the songs that make a concert, and make the concert they did! You'll be able to hear a lot of the old favourites as well as a whole load of wonderful new songs from the band, written by themselves alongside some of the biggest song writers in the industry no less. The results of which are amazing. One of the major highlights (of which there were more than you have fingers and even toes to count them) has to be the lad's duet of the now classic "Things Can Only Get Better" originaly by D:ream. The guys gave a magnificent live performance full of energy and enthusiasm, getting one of the loudest applauses of the night.
The solo songs were also what made this concert stand out as each was immensely strong as each of the five members gave their performances their all. If there is one thing that they will prove is that each band member can sing, and sing very well. Each of the five solos had a different theme and each will get your mouth dropping to the floor, and your vocal chords screaming for more. There were so many special moments, superb songs and groovy dance routines that this summary could infact become an entire novel, but it is best that you see it for yourselves. If a picture paints a thousand words a STEPS concert paints at least 10,000 happy faces and a multitude of dance routines.
