85 Kids picked for Britney Spears' Summer Camp
dotmusic reporting that two hundred inner-city school children are eagerly awaiting the all-important letter detailing whether or not they've been picked to take part in Britney Spears' summer camp. The singer is hand-picking the 85 lucky kids who will be put up at an all expenses paid countryside camp for two weeks in August to receive arts and entertainment tuition from Britney's personal staff. And having received 200 applications from teachers nominating promising children in the New York area who would benefit from such an opportunity, Spears now has to select which ones will get through. Spokeswoman Nina Biggar says, "It's really tough because there's no reason why any of the kids who have been nominated shouldn't get through, but we can only take 85. We're still sorting out exactly who will be teaching the kids, but it will certainly include Britney's choreographer and singing teacher, and Britney's planning on dropping in too."

Britney and Prince William meeting in November
dotmusic reporting that the frenzy of speculation about a possible meeting-of-minds between Britney Spears and Prince William is set to come to a head in November, dotmusic has learnt. After months of rumours and denials, a source close to Britney has confirmed that the pair are planning to meet-up when the Princess of Pop visits the UK for her British tour later this year. She has apparently sent the future King of England a set of VIP tickets to one of her shows in London, and has also invited Prince Charles to come along. A friend explained: 'Britney thinks Wills is fantastic. She's been dying to meet him for ages. She spent three hours composing the letter and tells Wills she has wanted to meet him for a long time after sending him e-mails and autographed pictures in the past. 'She wanted the letter to be friendly but not overtly flirty and thought it would be a nice touch to invite his father, Prince Charles. However, she has made it clear the meeting is really a date – but has not used the word directly because it wouldn't be seen in a good light.'

Britney not appearing on Dawson's Creek
dotmusic reporting that Britney has had to pull out of her appearance on American TV show, Dawson's Creek, when members of the cast objected. It's been reported that Spears signed deals with Columbia Tristar Television in March last year and would make two cameo appearances on the programme and headline her own show. A Tristar spokeswoman said: "We did know about this contract and all I can tell you is that it isn't on the boards anymore. It is definitely not scheduled to happen. I don't really think it is likely to happen now but I can't tell you why." A studio insider blamed the cast of the show, saying they were outraged at being forced to allow the 18-year-old singer to appear on the show. The insider said: "Britney is certainly not written into any of the shows we are working on now and we do work quite far in advance. Let's put it this way, the cast are not disappointed by the decision."

Radio hoax drives Britney fans crazy
TIMES LEADER reported that some diehard fans had been camped out in the radio station's parking lot since 2 a.m. There were girls clad in singer Britney Spears' sassy schoolgirl outfit from her "... One More Time" video. Others brought their sleeping bags, waiting out Friday morning to see the pop star while holding "We love you Britney" signs. But when Britney arrived by limousine, she was plastic ... and still in the box. Disc jockey Bill Fox laughed and children cried.Tears streamed down little girls' faces, parents cursed and debris flew through the air in reaction to what fans called a "scam." A limousine had pulled up at about 8:30 a.m. and a tuxedo-clad man had emerged carrying a Britney Spears doll in a box, not the singer parents say they were promised. "See, I told you she was a real doll to work with," Fox told the crowd, according to parent Michelle Brady. Angry adults in the crowd of about 400 fans said they had brought their children to 97.1 WBHT after the radio station said Britney would be there. But Fox said listeners should have been able to "read between the lines" and figure out that this joke was no different than any of the other pranks the station has played. He apologized for any inconvenience.

Britney Spears Museum Opening in her Hometown
JAM! Music reporting that two residents of Britney Spears' hometown have created a museum at the request of her fans. Sections of the Britney Spears Museum will be devoted to her early childhood, her tenure as a Mouseketeer and her present status as a chart-topping pop singer. The museum, which will be part of the existing Kentwood Museum, also will include a gift shop. Spears' parents have donated some childhood dresses and other items, said Sandy Reed, who is volunteering to establish the museum. She and another co-ordinator, Kathy Bryan, met earlier this month with Spears' manager and accountant, and both liked the idea, Reed said. "I'd love to say, 'And the opening date will be...' but we're not to that point yet," Bryan said. She said the idea for the museum was a response to phone calls from fans to state and local tourism councils.

Britney and Justin together in Hartford, CT
The Hartford Courant reporting on some more feed on the lovebirds, Britney Spears and 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, from a Java source close to the scene. First, Spears checked into The Goodwin Wednesday at 5 a.m. wearing her pajamas. Timberlake came to visit her in her two-bedroom suite (Mom was with her) at 11 a.m. Wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses when he left with Spears at 4:30 p.m. for the Meadows, Timberlake was still recognized and mobbed by screaming, crying fans. Java could not determine whether the 'N Sync heartthrob stayed over, but they did order room service: two grilled-cheese sandwiches at midnight. Oh, those crazy kids!

Britney's Temper?
Not sure the truth to this but, dotmusic is reporting that Britney Spears is distressed because she doesn't see enough of her 'N SYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Apparently the singer recently caused chaos in Orlando, Florida while filming the video for her new single, 'Lucky'. At first it was her clothes that caused her unhappiness, which meant a wardrobe assistant had to search Florida for a new outfit, and then she allegedly yelled at the director and had visitors sent off set. It was suggested that Spears almost cancelled the whole shoot but changed her mind at the last minute. Britney's temper tantrums have been put down to an aching heart. Her friends say she is missing Timberlake terribly as both have had heavy and demanding schedules in recent months. ONCE AGAIN, this is just a rumor and I don't know how true this is.

Britney filmed the video to "Lucky"
According to some sources while Britney was in Orlando, Florida, she filmed the video for her new single 'Lucky' while she was there rehearsing for her Summer tour.

Britney was in Toronto Today
Toronto Star reporting that Britney Spears swept through the Toronto Thursday on a promotional jaunt, but her brief visit coincided with a torrential downpour that blasted waiting fans. Spears, the world's No. 1 pop superstar, was in town for just a few hours, appearing for a 10-minute interview on KISS 92 Radio and later on MuchMusic. About 500 dedicated fans stood sopping wet in the cordoned-off parking lot where Spears was to speak. ''This is so sweet,'' burbled the 18-year-old singer, surveying her dampened adorers as she was hustled to a waiting tent for the interview.

Girls Come Out For Britney Lip-Synch Contest
MTV.com reporting that New York City's Planet Hollywood must have been an even stickier tourist trap than it usually is this Wednesday, when the midtown destination hosted a Britney Spears lip-sync contest. Over 40 girls, ranging in age from 3-21, competed for prizes which included tickets to Britney's Jones Beach concerts, dinner at Planet Hollywood, and a case of Britney bubble gum. The contestants were given 30 seconds to lip-sync and dance to selected Britney Spears songs. The winner was twelve-year-old Bridget Madera of Manhattan, who impressed the judges with her dancing skills. Among other prizes, she won two tickets to one of Britney Spears' concert dates at Jones Beach, a limo ride to the concert, and autographed memorabilia from the pop star. Britney Spears plays the Six Flags Performing Arts Center in Darien, New York on Friday. She is currently on a four-month tour of the U.S. that wraps up September 18 in Atlanta.

The Hartford Courant reviews Britney Concert
The Hartford Courant was at Wednesday's Britney Spears concert at the Meadows Music Theatre in Hartford, CT. "It's probably not accurate to call Britney Spears' packed show at the Meadows Music Theatre a concert. Singing or performing music was the least of the razzle-dazzle happening onstage, where there were explosions, lots of dancing, a half-dozen costume changes, video displays and rigging effects that made the 18-year-old star rise higher and higher."

KidsPost reviews Britney Concert
The Washington Post's KidsPost was at Tuesday’s Britney Spears concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia.

CDNOW reviews Britney Concert
CDNOW's daily music news section called Allstar put up a review of Britney's concert on Tuesday at the Washington, D.C. area's Merriweather Post Pavillion. They said the concert technically qualify as a real concert. It's just frightening to those raised to hear real musicians play and real singers sing that the concept of live performance has changed so drastically.
