Interview about 'Party in The Park'
Question: Who are you looking forward to seeing perform this year?
Destiny's Child - to be on the same stage as them will be excellent. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing Travis, Christina Aguilera and Moloko, I think they'll all be superb.
Question: Do you know which songs you will be performing?
Definitely 'Fill Me In' and 'Seven Days', my brand new single. Also there's a track on my album which will get the whole crowd up and feeling like they want to party - there's a clue there!
Question: Can we expect any surprises in your set?
There are always surprises in the Craig David set. I'm gonna make sure there are surprises but I'm not going to tell you now or it won't be a surprise!
Question: What's the best party you've ever been to?
I was DJing at a club in Southampton and it was New Years Eve about two or three years ago. I was playing with a friend of mine, Alistair, who was MCing and it was one of the best nights I've had 'cos the crowd were so into what we were doing, with every song we played they went wild.
Question: What's the one thing people should bring with them?
They should bring massive posters, saying 'We Love Craig David' and 'We Love Seven Days'! Also, horns, or anything that makes a noise and can be overheard by all the thousands of people there. I think banners and horns are the main essentials!
Question: Your next single is out the day after PITP - do you think it will be another No 1 smash hit?
I'd love for it to be number one but I don't want to pre-judge it and say it is going to be number one. I've put my all into it and it's down to everyone out there - all the buyers and all the fans. If one person comes to me and says 'I'm really into the lyrics of that song - it makes me smile, it makes me laugh, I can remember when I was in that situation' then that means more to me than a number one, although a number one would be nice!
Question: What were you doing this time last year when PITP was on?
I was at Party In The Park last year spectating. Prince Charles wasn't far away, on my left! It was wicked - I couldn't believe how many people were there! I thought then that it would be a dream come true to be on the stage and now I'm booked to do Party In The Park - it's wicked!
Question: What do you think it will be like, performing to 100,000 people?
It's going to be something extraordinary! When you look out it's going be like a sea of people - you'll be able to see the faces of people in the front three rows and then you'll just see dots in the distance. It's going to be mad singing to a crowd like that, it's an experience I won't live down for the rest of my life. Performing to a crowd is what the whole industry is about. It's about seeing people's embrace and the roar - so I can't wait!
Question: Can you give us a weather prediction?
Every year seems to have been really hot, so my prediction is: the sun's shining, but there'll be showery spells between 1pm and 2pm and then I think the rest of the day will be superb.
