Pokémon Trading Card Game Base Set #2
According to The PoJo, the Pokémon trading card game is gearing up for a second wave -- Base Set #2! The yellow-bordered series will consist of 130 cards in four levels of rarity. Cards from the hot-selling Jungle expansion have been rotated into the second base set, and all cards will bear the Base Set 2 symbol. The two-player Starter Set comes with 24 damage counters, game coin, starter and advanced rules, card list, and playmat. The set is available with an instructional CD-ROM only, or with the CD-ROM plus an instructional video. Players can customize and enhance their decks with 11-card booster packs, available in 36-pack displays or individually blistered. Four all-new preconstructed theme decks will also be ready for action: Grass Chopper, Hot Water, Lightning Bug, and Pysch Out. Each 60-card theme deck includes 12 damage counters, advanced rule book, and game coin. The theme decks are available individually or in an 8-deck display. Starter set with CD-ROM has a MSRP of $9.99; starter set with video and CD-ROM has a MSRP of $14.99. Booster packs have a MSRP of $3.29. Each theme deck has a MSRP of $9.99. Pokémon Trumps Ghosts in Halloween Stakes
In a triumph of marketing over tradition, kids are snapping up Pokémon Halloween costumes this year, preferring them over stalwarts such as witches, ghosts and vampires. ``Pokémon is clearly the biggest seller and the most difficult to get,'' a spokeswoman for the toy store chain Toys 'R' Us said Friday of the phenomenally popular Japan-born animated character that has spilled over into playing cards and a host of other marketable merchandise.
