PALLET TOWN MAP

(1) Your House (2) Rival's Home (3) Proffessor Oak's Lab Getting Started When your adventure begins , You'll be asked to choose names for yourself and your rival, Professor Oak's grandson. You may choose default names from the computer's list or make up your own. For this Walkthru, I'll refer to the rival as "Gary," one of his default names. Now explore Pallet town, being sure to visit Gary's House for a peek at the map on the wall. After you've talked to everyone, head north toward Route 1. Before you get very far, professor Oak will appear and escort you to his lab. Once there, he'll let you choose one of his Pokemon for your very own!! Your First Pokemon Each Pokemon has it's own strengths and weaknesses, and choosing which one to take is really a matter of personal preferance. I will say, however, that Bulbasuaur will fare the best against some of our early rivals. Before you leave Proffesor Oak's Lab, Gary will challenge you and your pokemon to your first Duel. If you defeat Him, you'll win some money. If your pokemon faints, take it to home to your mom for medical
Route 1 MAP

With Your Pokemon in tow, take Route 1 north to Viridian City. As you wander through the tall grass, wild pokemon will challenge you. You won't be able to capture them just yet, but that's all right. let your pokemon fight a few battles to gain experience. If your pokemon is injured or faints, you can take it home or to the Pokemon center in Viridian City
Viridian City MAP

(1) Pokemon Center (2) Viridian City Gym (3) Pokemon Mart -Pokeball $200 - Antidote $100 - Paralyze Heal $200 - Burn Heal $250 Special Delivery The first time you visit the Pokemon Mart in Viridian City, you won't actually be able to buy anything. The Pokemon Mart clerk will give you a package to take to Professor Oak. Deliver the package to recive a pokedex. The pokedex is a portable computer that you can use to store your data files on all your Pokemon you've seen or captured. Now return to Viridain City and buy some Poke Balls. If you plan on staying in the area between Pallet Town and Viridian City to build experience, don't bother buying any special medicines just yet. Once you decide to head north to Pewter City, buy at least a couple of Antidotes (which will cure any poison) for the road.
Welcome to the Pokemon Center
If you ever need help, the Pokemon Center will be the place to go. There are branch offices in most cities, and they'll provide your Pokemon with free medical treatment. You'll also be able to use their computers to access your PC at home, Professor Oak's PC and Someone's PC. You can use these PC's to store extra items and pokemon and to recive and evaluation on your progress from professor Oak. You can carry only six Pokemon at a time.
Route 2 MAP

Now it's time to start collecting Pokémon. Pidgey and Rattata are more plentiful along Route 1, so head back there to collect them first, then go north to Viridian Forest. Remember that you must weaken a pokémon first brfore using a poké ball to capture it. If your target is too storng, it will break free. On the other hand, if you drain all your targets's energy, it will faint, and you won't be able to collect it. Keep in mind that you can't capture anothers triner's pokémon. You'll run across several trianers in Viridian forest, so build up at least a couple of your pokémon before you challenge them. There's only one main route though the forest, so you shouldn't have very much trouble finding your way out. The exit is in the upper left corner of the area.

Hit the Big Time
You've come a long way from Pallet Town, so relax and enjoy the sights here in the big city. If you don't know your way around, just ask, and the local will be happy to direct you to the Museum or the Gym. The exhibits on fossils and the space program are interesting, but you probably won't be able to make sense of the cules you'll pick up until later. Just keep in mind what you see and hear once you move on to Mt. Moon
Pewter City Gym
Most of the trainers you find in Gyms will field two, three or even more Pokémon in battle. Before you face Brock, you must fight your way past one of his fellow trainers. The JR Trainer has both Diglet and Sandshrew at his command.
