Six years ago today
We were but friends,
Sharing, caring, being there
For one another...
I remember the thrill
As I bought you something
For the very first time,
Candy, a big box of candy
To say "thank you'
For always being there for me
As my Bestest Friend.
You bought me,
A tiny motor cycle,
As you knew how much I was involved
With the group.
Which I will treasure forever...
But then..
During that fateful week..
I felt a change
A change
Ever so softly
Entering our relationship....
You were such a good listener,
Holding onto each word I had to say.
Something I never had before.
You were full of wonderful and caring suggestions
To solve all my problems.
This to, was such a new experience for me.
I had always been the strong one for my family...
Never having a shoulder to lean on,
But then, there you were offering yours,
I was afraid to trust,
But, you had such a thoughtful loving way about you
That I felt my fears and doubts begin to melt away...
As you met each of my children,
You took them under your wing
And nutured them..
A whole new experience for them also.
As one day melted into the next
I felt a bond form with you
That I have never had with another..
I felt safe........
I felt loved.....
I felt cared for.....
It was difficult to give up the position
I had held for so long...
The position
Of being the head of this family
Thru thick and thin...
Having some one to share things with
was a whole new experience for me...
But I knew the time had come,
To open my heart, put aside my fears,
To dare to trust,
To hope
To Believe....
And then, the most magic but scariest of moments
When you said, I LOVE YOU..
Three little words that were to change my life
Forever.....
I knew then, as never before,
That my life was about to change
If I dared to believe in you..
To trust you, to be more than my bestest friend...
If I was to dare to take the gamble of
Placing my heart in your hands..
My Damaged heart...
I knew my heart had experienced more pain than most
That my scars ran very deep..
Could I

Dare to take this chance again,
With someone I barely knew???
But my love,
You convinced me.
Of your complete love and devotion,
With your words,
And the words of songs,
Thru notes,
And love letters
And cards,
Constantly reinforcing and assuring me
That you would always be there.....
To Hold me,

Thru the good times and the bad...
You opened your arms and heart wide...
And I stepped in..
To be engulfed and surrounded by your love...
You have taken me to places I have never been,
Trips to the stars and beyond.
You showed me what love really is.
What Ectasy really means between two people
Who are totally dedicated to each other...
Our nearly seven years together,
Have not always been smooth..
We have walked some very rocky roads together,
But.. When I felt fear trying to step back in,
You were there to banish it..
When old ghosts from the past
Came to haunt me,
You were there to chase them away..
When the scars seemed to open up
With anger,
You were there to heal them...
