AWAKENINGS...

YOU HAVE AWAKENED MY SOUL...

YOU HAVE AWAKENED MY SOUL...

I had dispaired...
And silently screamed
Against fate...
At my lonliness within..

My emptiness
Was overwhelming
All consuming...

I searched with all I possesed
For that special someone...
But finally came to that
Bitter understanding
Within myself, within my soul...
That this was not meant to be.

So, I stopped searching,
Stopped hoping...
pretending not to care.

And in it's place, I built walls.
Very sturdy walls at that...
Determined that I would never again
Let someone reach me.

But then, one fateful day...
When I was no longer looking...
No longer searching...
No longer caring...
You were there!
As wounded and as uncertain
As I

Your pain was visible for me to see
Your heartache showing through your eyes...
Eyes looking deeply into mine.

Eyes begging for understanding
Seeking relief from..
A tortured soul

And, all of this happened in an instant..
A mere particle of time...
When you stood there
On the other side of a door...
And you said,
"Hello Joanie..... I'm John"

Four little words...
That somehow penetrated those icy walls
That for so very long,
Protected my heart
And my soul...

And we talked...
God knows ...
How we talked...

And we went through hell together...
Mixed emotions resounded all around us...
We had a task to do,
Obligations to fulfill
And we did it well...

But somehow...
We found the time,
To talk,
To share.

We dared to built a trust
With each other,
One baby step at a time.

We were there for each other
And together we were there for all...

But you knew,
As I knew,
That this chance encounter,
Was destiny..

That finally God,
In all of His infinite wisdom...
Had decided it was time...
For us to meet.

And we dared to dream..
And hope..
That just perhaps...
Maybe...
Hopefully...
Prayerfully...

We had found what we both had been searching for!

Scared to death...
Both of us!
But so filled with wanting,
And the need for love,
That we stepped toward each other,
Trembling...

And the first time your lips touched mine...
I felt myself come alive...
And I saw the same look in your eyes.
I felt those icy walls begin to thaw.
And I knew then...as time stood still
That I had found the man I had been seeking.
The man I would call my Soul-mate...

And all in my life, that had gone before,
Was just a preparation
For that magical moment
When you said...
"I love you"
