Get ready Pikachuholics because you're about to get an overdose. Yes it's PIKACHU GENKI DECHU, the coolest game EVER to hit Nintendo 64. So what does this all mean?
Well 'Pikachu Genki Dechu' basically translates to 'Pikachu is Feeling Fine'. The setting is that you are are young trainer on your Pokemon Journey (do you see a trend here?) BUT (and this is where it becomes revolutionary) this game teaches you how really hard it is to be Ash, and do I ever mean REALLY!!! How, you ask? Because this game is fully interactive. Yes, you heard me right, FULLY INTERACTIVE!
Let me explain. Packaged with the game is a microphone. Why? The game is based on a special voice recognition system so you can actually TALK TO PIKACHU! (stop drooling and pay attention)

When you start the game, Pikachu is asleep on a tree trunk. You use the mike (remember this?) to call his name. Pikachu wakes up and then you are on your way to a beautiful friendship...erm, maybe.
You remember at the beginning of the anime? The manga? Basically what I'm saying is, do you remember when Pikachu was an impossible to train little rat that thundershocked everyone? Uh huh! Well in this game YOU are the trainer and it's YOUR job to train this everlasting bundle of joy.
With Pikachu as your buddy, you embark on your Pokemon Journey (sniff, I just love that little guy) and set off into the wide, wide... erm...island.
The obvious focus of this story is Pikachu (well duh) and he really is a delight to train. When you say nice things to him he is happy and
does nice things for you
When you say nasty things he gets angry and starts sulking and
refuses to talk to you
(ha,ha, rumour has it that is you mention the Sony Playstation he throws a tantrum. Ahhh, cross marketing, ain't it brilliant?)
This game is beautifully animated and filled with puzzles and items for Pikachu and you to play with. The graphics are just spectacular too. This is definately a game no Pokemon fan can live without and is, in my opinion, the best Pokemon game yet.

Pikachu Genki Dechu is currently available only in Japan and Nintendo haven't yet announced any plans of releasing it outside Japan. I suggest you write to Nintendo demanding (well, asking nicely anyway) that they release Pikachu Genki Dechu in english. This could be your only chance of actually owning your very own Pikachu, and believe me... it's worth it!
