| What vehicles will become tommorow's classics? These are some pretty sure bets. |
Chevrolet Impala SS
A sure bet, a limitted number of these tire smoking creations were created after John Moss had the idea. They were Caprice based, but packed something the Caprice never did, tire blistering quarter miles.
Dodge Viper
When these creations first came off the production line, they were not for everyone. They had no roof and were quite unrefined. Today, the Viper has actually gained some potency, but has gained a hard top. It is about the fastest car anywhere near the price, and some costing several times as much. Motor Trend found a 192 mile per hour top speed.
Shelby SP360 (Modified Dodge Durango)
The Shelby SP360 is quite a creation. It started with a Dodge Durango with an already powerful 5.9 liter V-8, and pumped plenty more horses in. With the optional supercharger, it is incredibly fast. As with most of the vehicles with the Shelby name plate, it is painted the unmistakeable blue with the very visable twin white racing stripes. Despite the custom features, you can order one through many Dodge Dealers.
Dodge Dakota R/T
It is not quite as enhanced as the SP360, but the price tag packs a little less shock. For less than 20,000, you can have one of the fastest pickups in town. You can even get the option on the extended cab. That is, by the way, the only non-full size pickup with a real back seat.
NEW!
GMC Typhoon and Syclone (1991):
Syclone - The pickup that beat Ferrari. That's right, in 1991 at a track just outside of Denver, Car and Driver raced a Syclone and a Ferrari. In both the 0-60 and quarter mile, the Syclone beat the Ferrari. After this test, Car and Driver decided to put, for the first time, a truck on the cover. Visit The official Syclone - Typhoon website. If you are wondering what powered this truck, you may be surprised to learn that it was not a giant V-8, it was a Turbo-charged and intercooled 4.3 liter six cylinder.
