St. Kitts (formerly St. Christopher) is 23 miles in length and ranges in width from five miles in the northwest to a very narrow peninsula with extensive beaches in the southeast. Nevis is a circular island (map) providing the exclamation point in the southeast. The distance between the islands is just two miles.
